Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.7.8 Build 20240719 Rel. 70981

Devices in Use:

Deco M5

LS1005G Gigabit Switch

Laptop to test speeds

Trying to setup my Deco M5 Ethernet Backhaul and using a switch according to the FAQ. The network is setup like this:

Modem connected to Main Deco

Main Deco connected to LS1005G Switch

Switch connected to 2nd Deco, 3rd Deco, Laptop

However, the 2nd Deco and 3rd Deco are currently outputting less than 100Mbps speeds, compared to the speed outputted from the Main Deco.

The laptop is also receiving less than 100 Mbps speeds.

Tests I've done so far:
Modem to Laptop: >200 Mbps

Modem to Switch to Laptop: >200 Mbps

Modem to Main Deco to Laptop: >200 Mbps

Modem to Main Deco to Switch to Laptop: <100 Mbps

Is there an issue with the Deco when using this switch? From what I've seen in the FAQ, tp-link switches should be more compatible, however there seems to be some throttling going on. Is there a way to fix this without using another switch? Is this a known problem?

  @Mscizor

Hi, welcome to the community.

Did the speed issue start recently?

Here are some suggestions for your reference:

1. Please connect the switch LS1005G to another Ethernet port from the main Deco.

2. Replace the Ethernet cable between the main Deco M5 and LS1005G.

3. Set Deco into Access Point mode- How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode.

4. Change a different Deco as the main Deco: How to replace the main Deco with another Deco

Wait for your reply and best regards.
