I've been using an Archer Ax55 with a RE705X extender for about a year, which are brilliant. I'm changing Broadband provider and they've sent me TP Link EX530v router and I'm wondering whether to use that or stick with my AX55. If anyone could help with the following questions, I'd be grateful!

1. They are both AX3000 speed, but is there any significant difference in specs between the AX55 and the EX530v? If so, which is better?

2. The EX530v has easymesh so should work with the RE705X extender, but will the AX55 work better with it?

3. I am aware that the EX530v uses the Aginet app, not tether. Is this better/worse/indfferent?

Thanks!

For AX55 you'll get better community support since EX530v is an ISP provided device and a new FW release can be obtained only throuth your ISP.

Besides, AX55 supports an Easymesh ethernet backhaul - details.

Hi @Capt_easychord2,

EX530v is a VoIP Router, which means it can access the Internet through both the DSL port and the Ethernet port.
Archer AX55 is a wireless router that only supports Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port to access the internet.
The WiFi specifications of the two are similar, but there may be some differences in functions. For the functions of Archer AX55, you can refer to Archer AX55 specification. The EX530v spec should also include the introduction of most functions.

For easymesh networking, Ethernet backhaul is generally more stable than wireless backhaul. The specific networking effect also depends on the network environment. It is not necessarily that the combination of router+router is better than the combination of router+range extender. You can try different networking combinations to find the combination that suits you.
