Model: Archer AXE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

My set up is as follows. I have an ISP modem downstairs providing wireless and wired connections. Upstairs I have C7 router ion access point mode which is used for wireless and wired connections. I can access any device on the whole network by using either the C7 or ISP Modem.

Recently I wanted to upgrade the C7 as we have some devices now that can use WiFi 6. I have tried the AX55 and the AXE75 but both do not function as the C7 did in access point mode. The issue is that I have a NAS connected to the C7 which provides Films stc to the TV wired to the ISP device. With the AX55 and AXE75 the NAS is not visable to any of the devices connected to the ISP modem. I can only see the NAS and any devices connected to the the AX55 and AXE75 devices if I connect to the AX55/AXE75 WiFi.

I have retuned both these devices. Is there something different with the way AP mode works on the C7 to latwer devices?

  @John1967

There shouldn't be any difference regarding set up AX55 or AXE75 in AP mode - details.

Here's the difference between AP mode and router mode.

When the router is set up in AP mode it should bridge its wired/wireless clients to your main router (ISP modem) LAN subnet.

Just make sure that you have turned off the AX55/AXE75 DHCP server.

  @terziyski

Thank you for the response. I might not have been clear in my orginal post nut the AX55 and AXE75 both behaved the same but are different to my Archer C7. The C7 allows me to access all devices in AP mode no matter which WiFi I'm connected to. The AX55 and AXE75 do not, I have to be connected to their Wifi to see any devices that are connected to their Lan ports.

Hi  @John1967,

Do you mean that in AXE75/AX55 AP mode (Access Point mode), when connected to the Wi-Fi of the main router, you can only see the client devices connected to the main router in the client list?

Can you provide screenshots of the difference between the client list in C7 AP mode and AXE75 AP mode?

When you set up AP mode, do you set the same SSID for the C7/AXE75/AX55 as the main router?

  @Joseph-TP

Yes that's correct. Simplified my network is set up as below:

With the C7 connected I see the following devices (below) no matter if I connect to SSID A or B and My TV will see my Nas drive.

With the AX55 or AXE75 connected my TV doesn't see the NAS drive and I can only see devices on SSID B if I connect to that wireless network. It seem they function as different Networks but with the C7 they are one network?

Hi  @John1967,

When you reproduced the problem, did you use a PC to test different WiFi? Did you check whether the network properties on the PC are "Private Network"?

To assist you efficiently, I've forwarded your case to the TP-Link support engineers who will contact you with your registered email address later. Please pay attention to your email box for follow-up.

Hi  @Joseph-TP ,

Yes I tried two laptops on both WiFi's. Network connections were set to private. Interestingly although my Nas doesnt show in windows when connected to SSID A I can access it by typing the network path (ie. \\TNAS-37ED) which would be fine but obviously I can't do that with my TV.

Unfortunately I wont be much more help as the AXE75 has been returned to the shop.

Thanks,

John

Hi @John1967

Are you still using Archer AX55? You can use this to reproduce the problem again.

  Hi @Joseph-TP,

No I dont have the AX55. I got gthat 6 momnths ago but due to the issues mentioned I took it back. I continued with the C7 until I got a good deal on the AXE75 and was surprised to have the same issues.

Regards,

John

Hi  @John1967,

It sounds like you want to continue using the Archer C7. This issue may be difficult to reproduce at this time. However, engineers will continue to analyze this issue.
If you have other questions in the future, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you @Joseph-TP .

I  wish I'd have kept one of the others now to help fix this. If anymore information is needed from my current set up please let me know.
