Unfortunately I can't help you with Proxmox but I suggest you to turn off one by one and to close possibilities what causes problem.

If you can connect the Zyxel switch in between, you can at least test whether there is some kind of incompatibility and therefore the transfer speed is bad.

Because at least I have a LAN-side incompatibility with a streaming box on my BE550 with the current final firmware, which seems to have been fixed by a BETA firmware at least for the last 3 days.

An adapter from another manufacturer, if it uses a different chipset, could of course also help as a test.

I did have a tidy up of my networking cabinet last night....didnt have enough time to finish...... i flattened the proxmox box and tried again - no luck, so dropped back to the 1GB line which is working fine. I still have some more tidying up to do which i will do tonight when i get home.

I did assumed that this router is a current model....you stated "the final firmware" is it now out of production?

No, you misunderstood me. The BE550 is a relatively new router that I believe came onto the market in mid-2024.

By final firmware, I meant a new final firmware or official firmware, as opposed to a BETA firmware, since I am currently running the BE550 with a BETA firmware.

Ah - right...ok.

If it is hardware i hope they can fix this with a future firmware update....

@ComfySofa Just to come back to this with a bit more info.....i got sidetracked by my home assistant server crashing so ive not had the chance to go back to it.

Did some testing with the proxmox box back on the zyxcel switch and i have to say it wasnt as fast as i thought it was - could have been the placebo effect of simply plugging in a 2.5gb usb adapter...anyway i did some more research and it would appear that the adapter in question is actually supported by proxmox but, it kind of, loads in a basic setup so effectively "makes a connection" nothing more...so ive got it clean built and connected back to the router (but ive not done anything with it yet) - previous build i did find a youtube channel on how to load in the correct settings so ill be going back to that with it connected to the router - i will also try the link aggregation and see if that helps.

So, while not working yet - ive got a lot more stuff to try. Also, the other adapter turned up as well so ive got that to test as well.

I'm updating the status of the new official firmware of the BE550 V1 and hope others can also install it to confirm if the overall performance will be improved.

The official version 1.1.1 Build 20241230 brings a range of improvements and new features to enhance your networking experience, offering better performance, security, and ease of use. This update is gradually rolling out, and users can check for updates on the BE550's web interface or through the Tether App and install the latest version. We strongly recommend upgrading to this version to improve the overall experience.
