Model: Archer BE805
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi,

My BE805 keeps dropping and I need to restart it 2 or 3 times a day. Talking to TP-support but not going anywhere despite testing a beta firmware.

Any suggestions on settings to change ?

Also the logs is not working, nothing showing them there, last entry MArch .... am I the only one ?

Anyone else with issues on this modem ?

Matt.

Hi

1. Please check and ensure the internet line or ISP modem is stable, bypassing the TP-Link router. Connect the PC directly to the ISP modem (or internet cable from the wall), test and monitor the internet connectivity, and ensure you have a stable connection.

2. Login to the router web interface when there is no internet, and check if there is still a WAN IP address on the Status page. If yes, go to Advanced > Network > Internet, change the primary DNS to 8.8.4.4, secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4, then Save and reboot the router to confirm:
How to change DNS

If the disconnect issue persists after checking all the above, it is suggested to comment below and be sure to provide the following information:
1. Who is your internet service provider? What's the model of the modem?
2. What is the light status when issue happens?
3. How to recover the connection? By rebooting?

Re:Archer BE805 keep droping
Sunday

@MatthieuSG - was your issue with the SSID disappearing/WiFi dropping ever resolved?

You are not alone. I got mine from Costco as well in Dec. 2024 and set it up in Jan. 2025. I had 1 SSID configured for all 3 bands with Smart Connect turned on. Things seemed to be fine for the first 2-3 weeks. Then the SSID disappeared one day. The only way to get WiFi back was to reboot the router. I chatted with TP-Link online support and was told to use different SSID's for each band, then set each band to specific channels. The issue occurred again after about 2 days and then every 2-4 days afterwards. The wired ethernet cable connection continued to work each time.

I tried all the troubleshooting steps the support folks asked me to perform but nothing has fixed the issue of the WiFi SSID's disappearing completely and requiring a reboot to restore:

  1. Separate SSID's for each band
  2. Specific channels for each band
  3. Tried toggling each band off/on
  4. Installed the beta firmware provided by TP-Link support
  5. Went back to Smart Connect + single SSID for all bands

Also, as you mentioned, there is nothing in the logs other than what is recorded when the router boots up. There are no new logs. The only timestamps seem to be tied to the date the firmware was released.

The other weird thing is that even though the serial number label on the router says "US/1.6", all the support chats said there was no difference between "1.0" and "1.6". The router web page lists "Archer BE805 v1.0" as the hardware version. This has me wondering if the 1.0 firmware got installed on 1.6 hardware by mistake, or if the label is wrong. I intend to try the "1.6" firmware from the support web site and see if it helps.

I suspect a hardware issue - some sort of shielding issues between the radios, perhaps - this router supposedly has 10 antennae - so maybe something happens with the radios that causes the wireless part to lock up. I have not received an explanation of what is going on with the router yet from TP-Link support. I was offered an advance replacement under warranty but I want to try the 1.6 firmware first.

Hope this helps others who might be running into the same situation.

Thanks,

Pavan.
