Hi,

I am looking to build an internal only mesh network, I understand the devices need to be set up using a live internet connection which is fine however once the initial setup is completed can I remove the internet connection and just use as an internal wifi network with no wan connection.

My use case is bringing to a new site build with no internet services

Many Thanks,

John

@JohnPC

Deco mesh checks Internet connection all the time. If Internet access is not available, LED light on Decos will turn red and they will be reported as offline. Also, you may not be able to manage Deco mesh from smartphone if Decos do not have Internet connection.

@Alexandre. Many thanks for the response, once they are setup they will not need to be managed anymore. All they will need to be able to do is when they are plugged in broadcast a wifi network and offline devices use them as a W/LAN. I don't mind about DHCP as all devices will be configured statically

This one you wouldn't have to worry about: in such setup Deco will start its own DHCP server, even if it runs in AP mode.

Also, as a helpful hint, if you don't want to be annoyed by red LED, you can turn off LED in Deco app. Beforehand, of course.
