VR2800 Firmware Upgrade
Hi, still on almost original 2017 FW for VR2800... I have reported some issues over last 2 years with gradual slowdown on 2.4GH WIFI - a reboot solves it, I have now scheduled a weekly reboot to keep things working. No updated FW for 3 years?? Is anything in the pipeline and when?

Hello, as for the firmware issue, we would remind our product department;
Back to your case, we can do some troubleshooting first to locate this issue and try to fix it; As you know, the firmware is not the only way to solve problems.
1. What is the bandwidth you paid?
2. What is the speed you can get from the VR2800? Including wired speed and wireless speed.
3. Have you ever tried to change the wireless settings to improve its performance? Like wireless channel and channel width?
Besides, may I know when did you buy it?
Good day.

1. What is the bandwidth you paid?
My broadband is 80MB - actual speed 66MB Fibre (WAN)
2. What is the speed you can get from the VR2800? Including wired speed and wireless speed.
Standing next to the router, I can get 66MB throughput on speedtest on 5G WIFI, when I switch to 2.4G Wifi, throughput is 1MB! and Netgear analytics shows that as my LAN speed (not WAN), a router reboot - and I get 66MB on 2.4G ... over a few days that degrades to 1MB'ish needing reboot
3. Have you ever tried to change the wireless settings to improve its performance? Like wireless channel and channel width?
Yes, I use WIFI tools to find least used channel and move around, its not contention though....

I see, thanks for your valued reply.
When the speed of 2.4GHz slows down, you can check the wireless negotiation speed of your device as the instruction.
If all wireless devices have the same issue and there is no firmware available to update, you may need to reboot the router regularly as a workaround for now.
Or you can hard reset the router and reconfigure it; then take some time to test the performance.
