Archer VR2800 won't connect to Plusnet with latest firmware
Archer VR2800 won't connect to Plusnet with latest firmware
Just purchased a VR2800 which installed fine and connected to Plusnet wth no issues at all. Ran for a couple of days and then attempted to upgrade the firmware to the latest on the website (200710) and it just wouldn't connect to Plusnet afterwards - I reinstalled the 170809 firmware from the website and it connected fine again. Is there some issue with the latest firmware impacting Plusnet?

Good day.
We had some feedback about the latest firmware and our engineers are working on it.
Once I got the updated news, I would come back here.
Currently, you could roll back to the previous firmware or the following one:
Archer VR2800(EU)_V1_200227

Thank you very much.

I've just been through the same exercise.
Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Upgraded from: Archer_VR2800V1_0.3.0_0.9.1_up_boot(170809)_2017-08-09_11.47.53
to:
Archer_VR2800V1_0.5.0_0.9.1_up_boot(200710)_2020-07-10_14.08.39
Everything okay, except for connecting to the ISP - Plusnet_VDSL.
The firmware showed it was in Beta, not a good sign.
After chatting with TP-Link Support, I was told to run the setup, not to use the restored saved config file.
I reset Man. defaults and ran setup again; same problem.
Then I installed:
Archer_VR2800V1_0.4.0_0.9.1_up_boot(200227)_2020-02-27_17.47.09
this works fine.

I have exactly the same problem. It will not connect to the internet via Plusnet. I have the VR2800 from new for about 3 Days.
The failure of the recommend firmware (according to TP-Link`s site) is disappointing and make me feel I should return the product to the retailer whilst I can as there seams to be little to no action sorting this out.

@BobTrace Without knowing what improvements are supposedly gained with the latest (Beta) firmware it's hard to judge, but my own experience using the last-but-one firmware with PlusNet has been fine, running continuously without problem for the last 10 weeks or so

Thanks for suggestion. I am currently running the firmware you mention and have not had any problems. I am just a bit peeved by the fact that the latest version is recommended by TP-Link but it fails with at least Plusnet. I am aware that BETA versions of anythings is a risk but TP-Link did not state that it was Beta until you read the version number after flashing.

@knobber I'm struggling with the same problem. The latest firmware available for AE (Middle East) is another BETA version! I had regular disconnections from ISP, forcing me to go back with my Linksys X1000 for ISP and VR2800 as wifi router.
Ridiculous to see that, their support is reponding with a single automated message & no inquiries about the BETA version firmware update is answered.
I can see that there is ONLY one moderator replying to the threads now days & the responses are coming after a week sometimes!
I start regretting this "upgrade".

@rajthampi I understand your frustration. I downgraded to the February version and have run this happily ever since. Try it.

@knobber and @rajthampi
I did the same and also no problems so what is the problem with BETA. It is poor show to recommend a BETA version as TP-Link have done.
They seem to want us all on WAN connections rather than telephone DSL. Unfortunately many of us do not have the option of FTTH or AX modems and can only have FTTC. The only alternative would be 2 Modems and most people have not got the room or know how to facilitate that.
I think TP-Link should withdraw the BETA firmware until it is OK for everyone.

I would just like to add that I have the exact same problem but with VR900 - older firmware works fine, newest/beta firmware not working/connecting - cannot establish pppoe connection.
Help please TP link - this problem seems to be accross multiple routers, accross multiple ISPs...
