Good morning,

I just bought the Deco X50-5G AX3000 to use with my EE unlimited data SIM in the UK, alongside a mesh of 6 Deco P9 units. My current setup is as follows:

  • A Netgear Nighthawk M5 router with the SIM.
  • A Poynting XPOL-2-5G outdoor antenna connected to the Nighthawk M5.
  • The main P9 is connected to the Nighthawk M5 using an Ethernet cable.
  • The Wi-Fi on the Nighthawk M5 is actually turned off.
  • That means the Wi-Fi network I'm using around the house has been created via the TP-Link app, which the main P9 sends wirelessly to the rest of the P9s around my house.

I'm hoping I can replicate this setup with the Deco X50-5G AX3000, and I'm also grateful for any tips.

Thank you in advance for your help.

M.

Hi, welcome to our community.

You may consider using Deco X50-5G to replace Netgear Nighthawk M5 router directly, and reset and readd Deco P9 one by one, as different Decos can set up Deco mesh network.

Here are some related guides for your reference:

1. Can different Deco models work together?

2. How to set up 4G/5G Deco Routers

3. How to add an additional unit to your Deco network

Thank you and best regards.

Thank you so much for your reply @Marvin_S,

Will the X50-5G allow me to turn its Wi-Fi signal off, so I can just connect to the main P9 unit via an Ethernet cable? Otherwise the X50-5G will create a Wi-Fi network, and the P9 a different one which, being in close proximity, would cause problems.

I've seen the guides, but was wondering if you could recommend any specific setup.

Thanks again for your help.

M.

Hi, Deco X50-5G and Deco P9 belong to Deco series, so they will set up a mesh network and there will be one SSID. If you turn off wireless signal on Deco app, wireless function will disappear from all the Deco network. Putting it another way, it is also one of advantages of Deco mesh.

Thank you and best regards.
