Archer BE800 dropping Internet connection over wifi
I have been using the Archer BE800 for a month now and it continues to drop internet connection over wifi but not wired connections. I stay connected to wifi (2.4 or 5 or 6) but the internet drops off then comes back in random intervals for random amount of times.
I tried upgrading to the beta firmware to see if that would help and it doesn't. The power is not dropping since I don't see the LED pulsing white like mentioned in this thread: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/676590
Again it only happens on my wifi connections not wired.

Hi @optimous012,
Have you set the wireless settings of the router to three different SSIDs?
When the wireless network is unstable, we usually have the following suggestions. Have you tried them:
1) Make sure the Router is properly placed, it should be put in an open area instead of inside a cabinet or shelf.
2) Login the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings, change the wireless channel into another one.
3) For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust 2.4GHz channel width into 20MHz, for 5G wireless client devices, adjust 5GHz channel width into 80MHz or 40MHz to avoid interference.
Every time the wireless network drops, does the router have any specific performance?
For example, the client's Wi-Fi is disconnected? Or the Wi-Fi remains connected, but there is no internet?

Hi @Joseph-TP,
Thanks for getting back to me!
1) It's in an open area with nothing between it and the device I was testing. (It happened when I was standing in front of the router the internet dropped on my mobile phone)
2) Currently had it on auto but will hardcode channels to see if that will help (So far in my testing it hasn't)
3) The router settings only allow me to set 2.4GHz to 20MHz. WIth 5G I am only able to set it to these options:
When it disconnects the wi-fi remains connected but loses internet connection. Again the wired connections don't experience this drop in internet connection.

Wanted to see if there was any more suggestions I could do to help with my Wi-Fi internet disconnections.

Hi @optimous012,
Please try the following sugggestions:
1. Update the firmware of the wireless router to the latest version
2. Make sure the router is away from wireless interference sources. Keep the router away from microwave ovens and other interference sources (refrigerators, ovens, Bluetooth devices, etc.)
3. Reduce the number of wireless clients and optimize the router’s position.
4. Set different Wi-Fi names for 2.4gzh and 5gha bands and disable smart connect if the router supports it.
5. Change 2.4ghz channel(1/6/11) . Change 5ghz channel(band 1/4).
If the above steps are not helpful, please help us collect information:
When does the issue start, and how frequent is it?
How many devices experience unstable wireless connection issues, and what are they?
Which band has a dropping issue (2.4G or 5G)?
Led status on the router when the internet drops?
How do clients reconnect after a disconnection? Will they automatically reconnect, or do you need to reboot the router?
Does the Wireless Network name disappear when dropping?

Hi @Joseph-TP
- I am using the latest firmware that is the beta release.
- This happens when I stand in front of the router less than 1 meter away. It is also not near any other interference sources
- I removed all devices connected to the router besides just my phone and the drop in internet (Only on wireless device) still occurs
- I changed the names and made sure the smart connect was off and it still happens
- I changed the channels on 2.4ghz from 1 to 11 and on 5ghz from 26 to 128 and still experience the issue.
The issue is consistently every few minutes or so (most 5 minutes) between internet drop as soon as my phone or laptop connects to wireless.
I have tested on my phone and mac laptop. All other devices I have are either hard wired in or are smart devices like smart light bulbs and smart plugs
I experience the drop in all 3 of my network bands. 2.4G, 5G, and 6G.
The Led and status on the Advanced -> Network-> Status all show internet is connected. I am still getting Ethernet hard wired stable connection on my PC that is connected via Ethernet cable to the router.
Wireless clients automatically reconnect to the router after the internet comes back.
The wireless network never disappears. It stays consistently available.
The only thing I have been able to do to get a stable connection was to turn on a Guest Network and connect to that and it works perfectly fine on that guest network but not on the secure networks.
Thanks for coming back and trying to continue to troubleshoot with me!
Adam
