Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.2 Build 20230906 rel.52143(4555)

I have been having ongoing problems with my AX6000 and wireless networks.  I was using an Archer T4U which worked ok for a few years but become very unreliable i the last few months and I decided to get the Archer TX20U Plus.  Initially it worked well and I got good connection speeds to the AX6000 of over 1000 Mbps but again in the last week I cannot use the 5G network.

The AX6000 and TX20U Plus have the latest available firmware and I have rebooted the router and PC numerous times.  I have tried setting te AX6000 5G network to Auto and Auto and well as multiple variations of the channel width and channel.  The 2.4G network is stable and works well - link speed is 573/573 and I have it on Channel width 40 and Channel 11.  Security in the 2.4G channel is set to 802.11b/g/n/ax mixed and 5G channel uses  802.11a/n/ac/ax mixed.  Security is WPA2-PSK[AES].  I tried changing the 5G channel to Security WPS3-Personal or WPA3-Personal+WPA2-PSK[AES] but could not connect to the 5G network.

i am using Windows 11 64 bit and reinstalled Windows today hoping that this would help but the problems persist.

I am getting totally fed up with the wireless network and now do not know if the problem is with the AX6000, TX20U Plus or Windows 11.

Please advise asap as to ow I can resolve this problem.

There has not been an update for either of the devices since 2023

thanks

Jose

  @JRSur

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

To confirm the issue source is not that difficult. Except your Windows 11 PC, do you have any other devices connected to 5GHz network of Archer AX6000? Usually mobiles phones can do it. If your other devices can connect to 5Ghz network normally, then the issue is only from TX20U Plus or your PC. And you may follow this guide to troubleshoot.

  @Marvin_S

Thanks for the reply.  I have gone through your suggestions and still have a missing or unstable 5G wireless network.  The problem seems to be related to the AX6000 rather than the TX20U Plus and when my PC cannot connect to the AX6000 I find that my cellphone also struggles.  If I select Auto and Auto for channel width and channel, I cannot find the 5G network.  I have tried multiple combinations of channel width and count and the only one which is moderately stable is 40 width and channel 44.  Even with this setting I find that I lose connection and my cellphone tends to revert to the 2.4G network.

I also find that the link speed from my PC is faster with 2.4G than 5G when using width 40 and channel 44 for 5G which was never the case before - 5G was always much faster.

I am really tearing my hair out about the 5G problem with the AX6000 and hope that you can help me to solve this.  The 2.4G network works without any problems.

 I have another cheaper TP-Link router which I use on my home theater, the AX50, which is perfectly stable both on 2.4G and 5G.  It is not a new addition and I have been using it for well over a year - this is not the cause the AX6000 problems which have only been happening for the last few months. I have the latest FW for both the router and USB devices.

Can you suggest the advanced setting I can use for the Archer TX20U Plus in Device Manager/Network Adapters/TP-Link Wireless USB Adapter/Advanced section that could possibly help to give me a more stable connection to the 5G network?

  @JRSur

I have gone through the ping command to 192.168.0.1 when connected via the 5G network and it works fine with no loss of data and all 4 replies less than 0.4ms
