I have kind of a similar question, so posting it here:

  • I got 2x Archer AX 55 (V1) on the latest firmware 1.3.2 Build 20240325, one upstairs (where the IP modem is) and the other one downstairs

Right now, I successfully set them up with Easy Mesh with Ethernet Backhaul. Speeds are good so far, but before the FW update, I had them both connected directly to the modem from the IP via LAN cable and set up two different wifis "upstairs" and "downstairs" throughout the house. Speeds were better when connecting to the corresponding wifi on the corresponding floor.

I am wondering whether it would work to set up Easy Mesh via WLAN and still connect the satellite Archer AX 55 directly via LAN cable to the IP modem as well. So technically, I only would like to have one shared WLAN around the house, but both distributing Archer AX 55 would be connected separately via LAN cable to the IP modem.

Does this work?

It seems what you're describing as a goal is the Easy Mesh with Ethernet Backhaul itself.

If you unplug the cable of one or both AX55, Easymesh should switch/revert to a wireless backhaul as a backup.

Here's the guide for configuring.
