So I want to build a "custom" wireless home network.

 

My home is rectangular and pretty long (large corridor), at the same time i have my ISP modem and router (ONT access) at one of the longest edges of my home. Knowing all of that I wanted to design a wireless network based on 2 AP (keeping the ISP router as a router, no wireless) and using 2 devices Archer AX55 as AP (because i couldn't find TP-LINK "official" AP capable of using 802.11ax IEEE standard).

 

Because of the shape of my home, both AP wouldn't have LOS (line of sight). Because of this, I made this mental design:

 

 

ISP Modem -> ISP router -> AX55 (AP) -> A wireless bridge -> AX55 (AP)

 

 

My questions are:

 

1. Is this configuration possible? With that, I mean: are AX55 capable to be configured as AP and share a bridged AP connection?

 

2. How can I implement the bridge itself? I have looked for some similar devices to wireless bridges. Can I configure an RE700X as a bridge? Or maybe it's better to connect both AP as a point-to-point AP connection? Is it possible?

Here are the AX capable, dedicated APs.

But don't worry - AX55s in AP mode (Case 1) may do the job for you.

You can't connect AX55 (AP) by wireless bridge, they don't support Range Extender mode nor WDS feature.

Connect them with an ethernet cable to your ISP router LAN ports like this:

 

ISP Modem => ISP router LAN => AX55 (AP 1) WAN port

                                                   | 

                                                 => AX55 (AP 2) WAN port

 

If cabling is not possible then you could use a PLC devices to mitigate this.

Thank you for the fast replay. Yeah, the PLC solution seems the most adequate one. I understand that when AX55 is working as AP its ports work like a switch, no?

Yes, that's correct. Here's the difference between the router mode and AP mode.
