Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.14 Build 20240108 rel.42655

I am trying to use this as an access point, but I can't connect to  my current router via hardwire. I have to be able to connect to the router wirelessly to provide wifi to my garage more or less as a range extender.

Can this be done?

AX50 doesn't have RE mode. It has only AP mode which you could use, but that involves cabling between your main router and the AX50.
