Channel Bandwith in RE450
Hello,
Is it possible to see and change the channel bandwidth in RE450? I have logged in to my Router from my computer, but I cannot find anything that indicate bandwidth. But maybe I´m looking at the wrong place?
Many thanks!

Hello, there is no option available on the RE450, instead, you can change the channel and channel width on the main router. Generally speaking, the channel and channel width of the extender will be the same as the main router.

My router has two different different frequeny band (5 GHZ and 2.4GHz.) They have different channel bandwith (Auto@5GHz and 20MHz, fixed@2.4GHz). Will the bandwith be "cloned" to the Range Exentender equally? I.e the 5GHz from the Range Extender will have "Auto" and the 2.4GHz from the Ranger Extender wil have 20MHz?
Many Thanks!

Generally speaking, the wireless settings of the extender will keep the same as the main router's. Especially the wireless channel.
Besides, as my knowledge, the channel width won't affect the performance; you do not have to worry about that.
Good day.

Sorry for bother you even more, but does the same "cloning" applies to all other settings? I was asked to set the lease time to a high value as possible and use static IP, but I couldn't find any setting for that. Though I find static/dynamic IP setting, but that was for the wired connection.
Many Thanks!

Hello, the lease time is decided by the main router. You can setup a static IP address for the RE450. You can log into the web UI of RE450 and go to settings-network page, there you can change it to dynamic IP to static IP. It is for the extender itself.

It is this one you are reffering, right? I.e change to "Use the following IP adress". Should I chose the one that is selected? Another stupid question, but should I click on reboot afterwards?
BTW, lower down in the same meny there is a possiblity to choose leasetime for the DHCP server. But that is not the same leasetime as you talkning about, right?
Many Thanks!

Hello, you can choose using the following IP address to assign it a static IP address which is in the same subnet as the main router. Then you can click reboot to apply the settings.
What I mean is the DHCP Lease Time, it is the amount of time in minutes or seconds a network device can use an IP Address in a network. Generally speaking, most devices will keep using the same IP address after it expires, but there are some that may use a different one.
May it help.

Sorry, but you answer regarding DHCP and Leasetime confuse me. I have a option to select "Adress Leasetime" in the network meny. But according to your previous post, leasetime should not be set in the extender. So what does this "Adress Leasetime"? And should I try to set it to a longer time than 1 minute?
Many thanks!

The RE450 supports smart DHCP; as you can see, there are three options. Auto/on/off. When you choose auto, the RE450 will send DHCP request to check whether there is another DHCP server existed. if so, it will turn off its own DHCP server, and the following settings are greyed out, cannot be chosen. At the same time, ER450 actually works as a DHCP client, and the address lease time is decided by main router.
You do not have to change the DHCP server settings, just keep it the same.
Best regards.
