Hi I hope someone can help me. Switched off my wireless router for the night and then switched it on again this morning. Only the WPS light is on and its a solid yellow. The other lights do not go on. Can't see the router on my network.
Soft reset by the WPS/reset button failed.
Hard reset with a small pin into the reset hole failed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

How do you hardware reset?
You need to press and hold the reset button (in the hole) for about 5 seconds to reset the router.
In addition, please try to set up a static IP address on your computer 192.168.0.100/255.255.255.0, and then connect the computer wired to the LAN port of C1200, open a command box and ping 192.168.0.1. Check if you can get a reply from 192.168.0.1. (if the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1 by default, however, if you have changed it to 192.168.1.1 or other, you need to set up static IP in the same subnet of the LAN IP address of the router.)

So I connected to 192.168.0.1 on my web browser and got a "boot" page. System error. The router cannot start up normally. Please upgrade your router.
I tried to use the two firmware versions from the tp-link website (mine is Archer C1200(EU) Ver 1.0 with the 3 antennas. But it failed at 40%.
Tried going to the UK website and using the VR400 firmware since the wireless looks exactly the same but it failed too...
It goes up about 5.8% then fails at 40%.
Screenshot attached
And yes, I did check for the proper firmware for my model, based on the sticker on the bottom of my device.

Tried again, this time disabling all internet access from my PC. The firmware progress bar goes slowly to 40% then fails with a "Firmware upgrade failed" message.
Time to RMA?

Please check the hardware version at first which is printed on the label at the back of the router.
In addition, have you extracted the zip file when trying to restore the firmware?

I have exectly the same issue with C9 V3. (CZ version). Only WPS is lit, and simple update page loads from
http://192.168.0.1
Update fails at 40% with every .bin available at support site.
Buttons are blocked, so I can't reset, Telnet, or enter recovery mode that opens tftp client on 192.168.0.86. (Did not try if serial connection works.)
I can provide serial number of the device if factory provided firmware is needed to restore.

What is the version of your C9?
You may try to do firmware recovery in the way below: http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?81462-How-to-recovery-the-router-when-you-bricked-it&highlight=fitz
Contact support@tp-link.com if this can't help.

Hi,
Did this problem get resolved? I've got exactly the same problem, it's TP-Link Archer C9 V3 (US). The router was working normally, till the moment I plugged it into WAN. My guess is that it tried to auto-update itself and it went wrong. Anyway, I ended up with semi-bricked router, only WPS LED is on. When I upload new firmware file through web (192.168.0.1) I get the same message: "Upgrade failed. The computer is disconnected from the network". I'm able to make it pick up recovery file via TFTP as well, but still no luck either.
Any clues?
Thanks
