Dear all,

I got a brandnew Archer c9 (v1) with Firmeware 4.0.0 Build 20150916 Rel. 37772.

Within the DHCP Server Settings I want to reserve for several (5) computers a dedicated IP address.
So far so good.
Now the problems:
- when I put into the description field of the Address reservation a name like "Camera 1 WiFi" the name will be deleted as soon as I save it
- when it keeps the name for any reasons the DHCP server doesn´t work at all anymore -> then I cant connect to the router via LAN or WiFi

Any hints?

Cheers bernhard

The address reservation problem went away when I avoid spaces in the description. Nice. Thank you.

I do know in the latest firmware if you use dhcp reservation there can be no spaces or other "special characters" in the description or else it breaks the DHCP server. I experienced this same issue and resolved it by removing the spaces in the description.

Hm,.. no spaces i´ll try that.

According to the firmewaredocumentiation this bug should have been solved with the last update.
Is there anyone from TP Link around who can give some advice?

I had multiple issues with this firmware (Firmeware 4.0.0 Build 20150916).
The only way I could resolve the problem was to downgrade to "Archer C9_V1_150507".

Hello,

This still seems to be an issue.

Has TP-Link addressed why this is still an issue?

It has taken me hours to figure this out. And none of the online videos or documentation with the router state not to have spaces.....

@Jolof

Yep, you can remove the blank space and special characters to make address reservation work.

@Kevin_Z

I have a d9 (which I use as router only) and there is no description field. I have the same problem and not firmware update. I am thinking about leaving tp link forever and buy a new router. Any solutions?
