Hi,

I recently got TD8970 and am using it as a 4G hotspot using airtel 4G (392u-92 modem ). If i set the connection on demand on 3/4G page, the connection never comes up. I do a ping from my pc to 8.8.8.8. In the log, the modem is recognized,

I want this "connect on demand", as i dont want to leave it always on mode.

NOTE: I hd previously hd 8968 model, where it use to connect on demand, but it never used 4G modem. it was in 3G mode(speed locked to 2mbps max), bcause my speeds very very less. this message was not see
"216: This is a LTE modem which needs mode switch." but in 8970 i do see this and it connects in 4G mode, so i get better speeds from 2-9mbps.
I hd another 3G modem 1831 which works fine with "connect on demand" mode on 8970. So it looks like the bug in latest version of 8970.

I think connect on demand means if there's not ADSL connection,it will connect to 4G mode.
Ff you choose connect manually and click connect button. Will it connect to the 4G network?
If yes,you can try to use this mode.

yes, i use it in 4G mode only, (Not backup of adsl, in this mode, connect on demand will be grayedout, so it will connect when adsl fails). And these options, connect on demand, always on, manual connect are present. When i set connect on demand, it does not. But manually i can connect, and always on wrks.

in older modem 8968 model, this was not the case. it wrked fine.

I had filed a tkt with tplink in dec 2015, till now no response, the guy replied that some1 from india will update the tkt. till today no1 called/updated the tkt. Its a BIG JOKE for india tplink support team. Its been almost a year no firmware update for this modem yet. :(
