Strange connection problems VR900/ Sony Vaio/VPCF24C5E

Bought the VR900 5 days ago. Initial set up was a breeze and everything seemed to work ok.
I then decided to update the firmware to enable devices to see the hidden SSID, that's when the problems seemed to start.
Strange thing is, it only seems to be affecting my Sony Vaio VPCF24C5E.
Take this morning for instance. I was first up and internet and connection to VR900 was reasonable. Then my son gets up and is on his tablet at the same time and I start
to lose connection to the VR900 and getting 'no internet' warnings when my son tells me that his tablet is still connected and working well.
It is something I have not seen before in all my years using IT equipment.
I have reset the modem. Reset network connection on my Vaio, uninstalled and reinstalled network card and also tried various settings on the modem. Even if I show the SSID now
there is no change to behaviour. When my other son and wife are on as well, it gets worse. Unusable most of the time, while they surf away without problems.
I guess I will have to post a link to this on the Sony support site as well and see if they know of any issues, but it's my guess that because this is a relatively new modem
there won't be much known about it.
If anyone can come up with any suggestions I would be grateful.
TIA.

Initial reports using Sony Vaio are promising. No wireless connection issues while SSID showing, but when SSID hidden, no connection. This should be working.
An improvement anyway. Now to test with other devices connecting to network.

Well, after a lot of toiing and froing I finally have a working VR900.
After the exchange of various emails with customer support, it was decided that I should exchange the unit for a new one.
This in itself posed a problem in that the item was bought on Amazon using and old account whose registered email address had been hacked.
After conferring with Amazon quite a bit I managed to recover that account and had requested an exchange which was with me a couple of days.
Since then, no issues at all. Great!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Judy Li from Customer Support and also forum admin for changing my registered email address.
A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!!!
