Deco M4 - guest network not working with ethernet backhaul
Hello,
I have two M4R units in router mode.
When I connect them back-to-back via Ethernet backhaul, the guest network stops working on the satellite unit. My devices detect the wireless network but cannot connect to it because they don't receive an IP address.
There is not any switch between them.
On the main M4, the guest network works without any issues.
The main network functions flawlessly on both units.
Is this a known issue?
Thank you.

Hi, welcome to our community.
Here are some troubleshooting steps for your reference:
1. Please disconnect the Ethernet cable between two Decos, and check whether devices can connect to guest network on satellite Deco M4 when the Decos are connected wirelessly.
2. Change Ethernet cable between main and satellite Decos.
3. Reset satellite Deco M4 and reconfigure it, then check again.
4. Replace main Deco with satellite Deco M4 following the guide then check again.
5. Reboot the whole Deco system
Thank you and best regards.

Thank you for your welcome message 🙂
I followed all your suggested steps, but unfortunately, the problem persists. As soon as I connect M4 units via Ethernet, the guest network stops working on the satellite unit.
I think I'll try resetting both M4 units and reconfiguring the network from scratch.
Thank you for your assistance!

Hi, thanks for your update.
May I double-check the result of the 1st troubleshoot step we recommended?
1. Please disconnect the Ethernet cable between two Decos, and check whether devices can connect to guest network on satellite Deco M4 when the Decos are connected wirelessly.
So when the Decos are connected wirelessly, can the guest network work properly on both Deco or not?
Waiting for your reply and best regards.

Apologies for not being clear earlier.
Regarding your first step, the answer is yes—when the Ethernet cable is disconnected, the guest network works perfectly on both Decos.
I've reset both Decos and reconfigured my network from scratch. Unfortunately, the problem still persists.
Do you think it’s worth trying to install the beta firmware?
For additional context, I’m using the system in router mode with a PPPoE connection. In this setup, I have to configure an Internet VLAN.
Thank you.
Edit: It seems that was a similar problem with BE63, solved through a firmware update. Could the issue in my case be the same?

Edit 2: Similar issue with a X50.
