Model: Deco XE200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: Latest

I have 4 Deco XE200 units connected to a 10gbe switch running in AP mode.

Always one of the three non-main XE200 units will goto wifi rather than ethernet mode saying WAN port speed error.

If I reboot that unit, when it restarts it will use ethernet but one of the other two non-main units will start using wifi showing the same WAN port speed error.

The network cables are all perfect. I suspect this is a firmware bug.

  @LiaLin

I tried switching Kitchen to be the main unit.

In that case Rumpus and Guest Bedroom connected via ethernet, but Living Room went to wifi.

I have 3 different ethernet cables running to the living room, so I moved the connection for the Living Room Deco to a different ehternet cable and that seems to have me running on Ethernet on all 4 Decos!

The whole "Abnormal WAN speed" error thing could be a lot more informative.

Anyway it looks like my problem may have been a dodgy ethernet cable.....

I will keep an eye on the network for 24 hours to make sure it doesn't revert...

  @LiaLin

Do you run these in Deco default Router mode or in Access Point mode?

Also, check this TP-Link FAQ, and in it Section Q2General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco

  @Alexandre.

They are in Access Point mode as I have a Ubiquiti router as my main interface to the Internet

The Ubiquiti connects to a 10gbe switch which all 4 XE200 Deco units connect to.

I can never get all 4 Deco units to use Ethernet backhaul. Always one of the 4 will goto wifi and throw the abnormal WAN port speed error

This is unusual, especially for Deco mesh running in Access Point mode.

Just to make sure I get everything right, two questions:

1. If you power off two Satellite Deco, will remaining third switch to WiFi backhaul?

2. Your network layout, is it the following:

or the following:

Also, one more question: what is switch brand name and model number?

  @Alexandre.

Network layout is the former

Internet - Ubiquiti - Switch - Deco x4

The switch is a Netgear XS508M

The 4 XE200's are:
Living Room (Main)

Kitchen
Rumpus
Guest Bedroom

Typically Kitchen defaults to wifi despite a 10gbe wired connection to the switch. If you reboot Kitchen with the other 3 on, Kitchen will goto ethernet backhaul and Rumpus will goto wifi. Reboot Rumpus and Kitchen goes back to wifi.

I tried turning off Guest Bedroom. Kitchen remained in wifi state. Rebooted Kitchen with Guest Bedroom off, Rumpus went to wifi.

Turned off Rumpus as well, Kitchen went back to wifi....

  @LiaLin A couple of things that really irritate me about Deco:

1) The app doesnt show you the connection speed on ethernet of any devices. You should be able to see the backhaul speed between every Deco and also the connection speed for every other device connected to an ethernet point on each Deco.

2) You cannot force in the app ethernet backhaul
