Surfshark VPN stopped working with update
Hello!
Unfortunately, I had auto-update enabled on my router, and today the 1.1.1 version was installed on it.
My surfshark VPN was working just fine, and now it can't process any traffic no matter if it comes from the wired interface or wireless. I have an Apple TV that is connected through ethernet, and an Android TV via the wireless network, and both lose connectivity when I turn on the VPN. As soon as I turn off the VPN, they recover internet access, but of course with a local IP address.
Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. This was working well until the update today.
Thank you in advance!

@Muffinman @woozle So I added an ExpressVPN OpenVPN connection, and it works. Slowly but it works. So this apparently is only happening with Surfshark.
Do you guys know how can I open a ticket with TPLink so this issue is looked after?
Thank you very much!

glad it kinda works
I think the mods do actively look over issues here on the forums but you could contact support here:

@Muffinman Thanks for your support. I hope they notice this issue and fix it, as Wireguard is quite faster and more stable than OpenVPN. I easily get 600 Mbps speeds to the YouTube TV datacenter, which is great.
I think this has to do with the implementarion of the seamless integration to surfshark, and hope the developers fix it quickly.
I hope you have a great Sunday!

@Muffinman @woozle Thank you both for your valuable suggestions.
@NetStorm Sorry to hear that the Surfshark VPN stopped working after auto-updating the BE550's firmware to the 1.1.1 official version.
Could you please confirm the VPN status on the BE550's web page when there is no internet connectivity on the wired and wireless devices? Is it displaying as Connected?
I will create a support ticket for you via email. Please send the System Log on the BE550 when connecting to the Surfshark VPN server and there is no internet access.

@Kevin_Z Hello, Kevin! Thanks for your reply, and thanks for opening the ticket for me. I hope this gets the issue fixed very soon.
I can confirm to you that the VPN Status is "connected" when I try to use it, and also that whatever device I move to the VPN connection, automatically fails to connect to the internet and remains isolated after that. When I disable the VPN for each device or on a system-wide basis, connectivity resumes with a local IP address.
Kind regards,
JO

I am having the exact same issue. Also auto updated this past weekend to 1.1.1 Build 20241230 rel.20267(5553) on my Archer BE550. I use ProtonVPN and VPN client was working fine until the autoupdate. It no longer works when trying to use WireGuard or OpenVPN for me. Shows as connected, but all devices do not connect to the internet when VPN client is on. I tried factory reset which didn't help and I am unable to downgrade firmware. Hope there is a solution.

@sonicwaved So we can tell now there is an issue with the firmware. In my case OpenVPN with ExpressVPN works, but with lousy speeds (around 10 Mbps in average). Wireguard which is a great protocol, stopped working completely, even when status shows "connected".
Let's hope a fix is released soon!

@sonicwaved Just so everyone knows, Noah from tech support has been in contact with me. He requested the backup configurations from my router, but before tackling the issue, he sent me another note confirming that the development team has found the root cause of the issue. He expects that a new beta firmware release to be available for testing as soon as possible, so this is great news.

@NetStorm thanks for the update, glad it has attention. I sent in a support request as well, but haven't yet heard back.
