Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20241115 rel.17800

Dear customer support representative,

I have a tp-link BE900 and a BE805 at home, and I am trying to set up an EasyMesh setup using them.

I would like to use the BE900 as the main router and the BE805 as the satellite, but the latest firmware for the BE900 does not allow you to enable EasyMesh in AP mode, so I have the BE805 as the main router and the BE900 as the satellite router.

However, I found that even with the above setup, the BE900 (satellite router) does not mesh the MLO SSID.

In addition to the normal SSIDs of 2.4GHz and 6GHz, the satellite BE900 transmits the same SSID on separate channels for 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2, but for some reason, the MLO SSID cannot be found even though it is set on the BE900 side.

Is this the correct behavior for the current BE900 EasyMesh satellite?

Is it possible to use Mesh MLO with the combination of BE805 and BE900?

I would like to use the BE900 as the main router and the BE805 as a satellite, but will there ever be a firmware release that supports EasyMesh in BE900 AP mode?

In this state, I'm feeling pretty disheartened, even though I bought such an expensive machine.

Hi  @momopoem,

Currently, MLO/IoT/Guest Wi-Fi can't be extended in an EasyMesh network. This is for all TP-Link routers that support easymesh. As mentioned before, we will gradually implement MLO/IoT/Guest Wi-Fi to be extended to the entire easymesh network in future firmware updates.

If you urgently need MLO/IoT/Guest Wi-Fi to cover the entire network range, you can also consider Deco products.

Hi  @momopoem,

Unfortunately, there is no corresponding beta firmware to implement BE900 to create an EasyMesh network in AP mode.

For the expansion of MLO network, we plan to gradually expand MLO network, guest network, IoT network, etc. to satellite routers in the same way as main network in the future.

For your needs, we have already fed back to the relevant technical staff, and we suggest you pay more attention to the firmware update of the official website or the automatic update of the device firmware.

Sorry for the late reply.

Joseph-TP,

I would like to have firmware that allows me to use the BE900 as the main router and the BE805 as a satellite router using EasyMesh,

but first, you haven't answered my question about the MLO SSID not meshing when I connect the BE805 as the main router and the BE900 as the satellite router.

Is it a bug on the BE900 side?

Or is it a "function that is not provided in the current firmware"?

The BE900 has inferior functions compared to the BE805 even with the latest firmware, and the BE900, which is a flagship machine made by tp-link, has excellent hardware but currently has significantly inferior software functions.

If I had set up EasyMesh with two BE805s, would the MLO problem not have occurred?

Am I foolish for choosing the BE900?

I sincerely hope that the BE900 will be provided with excellent firmware in the near future.

Best Legards.

Hi!  @Joseph-TP

This is fantastic news! Could you please provide a timeline for when the firmware update would be available?
I'm very satisfied with TP-Link products, but this feature is crucial for me.
Thank you!

@momopoem Hi, could also have timeline of firmware for HB810 with easymesh apply mlo/iot/guest network in satellite, thanks.

Hi, I'm a TP-Link fan. This is an interesting issue. From my understanding, only the controller
device operating in router mode provides MLO
and certain other features across TP-Link EasyMesh
products.

As a result, only clients that connect to the controller can benefit from these features.

Is this correct so far?

Also, do you have a latest list of supported features by product for EasyMesh?
This would help avoid confusion for customers.

Thanks!

Hi @Gee580,

Yes, currently, most advanced features require the controller to be running in router mode and work when a client is connected to the controller.

The functions supported by each model are actually different, but the main differences between router mode and wireless router mode can be found in the following FAQ:

What’s the difference between the Access Point Mode and Router Mode on the TP-Link wireless router?

IoT and Guest SSIDs can be done later, but MLO is the key feature of Wi-Fi7.

I wonder what TP-Link is thinking about putting it off. I admit that Wi-Fi7 is still a future technology, but I think it is a serious problem that EasyMesh and Wi-Fi7 are being heavily promoted, while MLO is being put off in EasyMesh.

Please make it possible to mesh MLO with EasyMesh as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Best Regards.
