Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20230804 Rel. 3600

Hi

I have tried to update the firmware on my Deco X50-5G but I keep getting:

"Upgrade failed. Please select the latest version of firmware to upgrade."

I have tried to update this through the App and through the web UI but still get the same messages.

The firmware I have attempted to use are the following versions.

X50-5G_2.0_en_1.0.0_Build_20240813_Rel.46287_EU_up_all
Deco X50-5G_1.20_1.1.4 Build 20240109

Can someone help me please, I am struggling to get stability out of the unit with the high CPU Usage.

  @Dewhurst

HI, welcome to the community.

After checking your TP-Link email ID, I noticed your Deco X50-5G is V1.0 so "X50-5G_2.0_en_1.0.0_Build_20240813" would not be the right version.

Have you tried the firmware versions here, such as 1.1.5 and 1.2.0:

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/download/deco-x50-5g/v1/#Firmware

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

I tried that with version 1.1.5 that also failed.

I have tried 1.1.7 and got the same results. Unless I am doing something wrong I am unable to get this to update

  @Dewhurst

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Could you please check whether you could install this version:

Deco X50-5G_V1.0_1.1.1_build20231008

-If yes, after updating to 1.1.1, you could test whether it could update to 1.1.5/1.2.0 next.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

hi

did you try the firmware recovery trick : https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2958/ ?

I applied it on the DECO X50-5G V1, to downgrade from firmware beta x50-5g-SP1-whole-up-beta-ver1-2-0-P1[20241230-rel33540]_2024-12-31_10.03.32.bin   down to    Deco X50-5G(EU)_V1_1.1.7 Build 20240809.

It worked pretty well, I'm now back on 1.1.7

  @t0urista

Hi

my unit fails to upgrade or downgrade firmware of any description.

I have attempted the firmware recovery trick and this bricked the unit. After the previous community engineer helped me and passed the details over to the TP-Link support direct, they had sent me a firmware that had recovered the unit.

It's currently working on version: 1.1.0 Build 20241227 Rel. 32192 this is the latest firmware the R&D Team have provided me plus I have an upcoming TeamViewer session with them for further diagnostics.

I'll keep you informed as to what they find
