Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.0

HI there,

my network is composed of 9 Deco units, seven of them on V1 with firmware 1.08 (official) and three of them on V2 with firmware 1.0.6, all connected in ethernet bachahul.
One of the unit on V2 is set up as MAIN Deco BE65 in Router mode, with static ip address and attached directly to the ISP modem (Vodafone italia business) with NAT.
From the MAIN Deco a cable connect a Tp-Link Easy Smart Switch TL-SG108E V6, with firmware 1.0.0 Build 20230218 (official), with Loop Prevention turned OFF.

From this switch start other cables that connect all the other Deco BE65 (v1 and v2) units as in the image above, located on three different level: ground floor (light blu circle), first floor (red circle) and third floor (green circle). The units between ground floor and first floor are basically working smoothly, I barely had any disconnection of the units.

Instead the units at third floor get disconnected most of the time: in this case from Deco ROOM A (first floor) a cable run till the third floor of the building, where it get connected to an other switch TL-SG108E V6, with firmware 1.0.0 Build 20230218 (official), with Loop Prevention turned OFF.  From this switch the other units of third floor get connected.

I tried to change port on Deco ROOM A and on the third floor's switch: NO FIX

I tried a direct connection from Deco ROOM A  to  Deco GUEST ROOM APT 3-F, or other units of third floor: NO FIX

I tried a direct connection from MAIN Deco to the switch at third floor: NO FIX

I tried a direct connection from MAIN Deco to Deco GUEST ROOM APT 3-F or any other units of third floor: NO FIX

I tried a direct connection from the first switch to switch at third floor: NO FIX

I tried a direct connection from the first switch to Deco GUEST ROOM APT 3-F or any other units of third floor: NO FIX

* in all these test I always tried different ports and always reboot the entire network units.

** i also tried factory reset of the units

*** I run a test of all my cables (cat 5e) and they run perfectly

I found out that, even in “high efficiency”, option that Deco units still try to look for each other in wireless mode, creating a sort of loop and my switch TL-SG108E (V6) with loop prevention turned off, prevent the disconnection of the units of ground and first floor cause they can still "see" between each other.

The units of the third floor are instead too distance from the rest of units and so they can't  “see" the units of first and ground floor, creating the disconnection.

An other problem is instead related to the Guest Network:

On the MAIN Deco the guest network work perfectly, but as soon I moved between the satellite units, my iPhone 16 Pro Max (also tried a Samsung S21 and iPhone X) can't connect to the guest network wi-fi (keep looping). Only once it connected successfully to a satellite unit but then there was no internet.

I of course set up both my switch TL-SG108E V6 with the 802.1Q VLAN spec as described here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2317/

I updated the three units Deco BE65 V2 to the firmware 1.1.0, including then also the MAIN Deco: however the menu "wireless network mode" disappeared from the advanced menu and so also the "high efficiency" option.

The Guest Network on satellite units keep not working.

Is it depends that there is no the same firmware 1.1.0 update for units V1?? In this case could you provide me a beta/custom one please?

****Other specs:

The main network is set up as 2.4ghz only with 20mhz (channel 1)

The main network MLO is set up to 5ghz and 6ghz

The IoT network is set up as 2.4ghz and 5ghz and used as "guest network", isolating all the devices on the main networks

Thank for your time,

Best Regards

  @Guiduz

Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback.

Is the current network topology like:

I'd like to follow up on your case via email so that I can forward it to the senior engineer for further assistance.

Could you please reply to the email with a copy of the system log file?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP

Hi David, thanks for your fast reply!

the current network topology is described as above. Blu: ground floor ; Red: first floor ; Green: ground floor

I had to add two satellites units at ground and third floor.

At the moment, considering the whole network should give internet service to 3 apartments for bnb, I isolated the units at the third floor using one of them as a second Main deco with a static Ip, a different lan and a different dhcp and subnet. Of course the velocity is reduced of a 40/50% but it's a temporary fix.

In few hours I will set them up as before and send you the log file

thank you,

best regards
