Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.7 20240929 Rel. 23723

I have 3 x BE65 devices all hardwired via ethernet to each other. I also have a BE25 in the garage via WIFI.

I have about 50 devices across all access points working fairly well. I've had the setup for about a week. Also had previous TP Link kit over the years, and an engineer.

My Sonos is constantly skipping or dropping out. I have 5 x Sonos Play:3 devices (with 1 wired to one unit that is connected to the backbone). I also have a playbar + sub + 2 Play:1 rears that are on the same 'theater' setup. I believe the theater setup is on 5Ghz.

I used to have a Boost but removed it to keep the network and use one of the play:3's as the bridge (reading many articles says it acts like a boost).

I've tried Sonos channels 1, 6, 11 and sometimes they work seamlessly, but more frequently dropping out.

All devices have a static address delivered via the DECO DHCP.

I don't believe that there is a way to set the BW / Channels on the Deco's. Which may be impacting the SonosNet setup. I'm also using the Deco IOT network on 2.4ghz only.

Are there any suggestions or ways to identify the problems? Are there any features planned to allow more configuration on the WIFI side of the DECO units? Does anyone else have a similar setup and have any issues?

Thanks,

  @Wobblyman

Hi, Nice to see you again.

Deco BE65 is planned to support customizing wireless channels/channel widths. The firmware will be ready soon.

Since you could modify the wireless channel of SonosNet, it didn't always help. Maybe the issue is not related to the wireless channels.

- By the way, since the Sonos theater setup is on 5Ghz, Would they still randomly drop out like the 5* Sonos Play:3?

It is also suggested to disable "Fast Roaming" and "Beamforming" under Deco APP>More>Advanced to see whether it made any difference.

Moreover, apart from the Sonos smart devices, Did other mobile devices have a stable Wi-Fi connection?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Thanks - the theater setup is ok and doesn't experience dropouts. Other devices are ok on the network with no obvious problems. I've got multiple chromecast devices and can stream 4k with no problems. I'll turn off beamforming and fast roaming to see how it goes.. Looking forward to any beta testing of new FW if that would help. Cheers

Re:Deco BE65 + Sonos
Thursday

@Wobblyman After further investigation and issues I've now done the following. It is working much more reliabily.

The 'main' deco, the one in the bedroom, that is connected to the internet now has physical ethernet links to the lounge, and then from the lounge to the office. All 3 are showing as the backbone.

I've connected one Sonos Play 3 to the one ethernet port in the bedroom, and another Play 3 to another ethernet port in the office. From there, the sonosnet works off those 2 devices. There is no lag, or interference.
