Archer AX55v2
We are pleased to announce the pre-release of the Archer AX55 V2 firmware update, version V1.2.1. This update introduces a range of new features, optimizations, and enhancements designed to improve your network experience and add new capabilities. Here's an overview of the key updates.
New Features:
VPN Client and WireGuard Support
This update introduces VPN client functionality added an updated protocol, WireGuard. Now, users can easily set up and manage their VPN connections directly from their TP-Link router, ensuring better privacy and faster speeds.
EasyMesh & Ethernet Backhaul
The latest update brings full EasyMesh support, enabling seamless integration across multiple devices, and ensuring consistent coverage throughout your home. The addition of Ethernet Backhaul provides more stable and faster connections by allowing mesh nodes to connect via wired networks, reducing congestion on Wi-Fi bands.
Speed Limit
Speed Limit gives you the permission to assign a specific download and upload speed for each device that connects to the router, you can then restrict how much of the speed the program or hardware is allowed to use at maximum.
IoT Network Addition
A significant addition is the IoT Network, which helps manage smart devices on your network more effectively. By isolating IoT devices from your main network, you can enhance both security and performance, ensuring your main network remains efficient and less congested.
Local DNS Server Configuration
The update also allows you to configure local DNS servers directly on the WAN/Internet settings page, giving users the flexibility to choose DNS providers that best suit their privacy and performance needs. This makes it easier to set custom DNS settings, bypassing ISP defaults and improving browsing speeds and security.
Advanced AP Mode
AP mode now includes a range of advanced features, such as wireless scheduling, access controls, and enhanced device management. This gives users more flexibility to control their network setup, allowing for easy configuration of security settings, parental controls, and device monitoring, even in access point mode.
Flow Control Switch
For advanced users, we’ve included a Flow Control ON/OFF switch located at Advanced > Network > LAN > Flow Controller.
IPv6 Firewall Configuration
The ability to configure firewall rules for IPv6 traffic ensures that networks using the newer protocol are as secure as those on IPv4. This feature offers granular control over inbound and outbound traffic, enhancing protection against unauthorized access.
IPv6 and USB Sharing Optimizations
We’ve enhanced the IPv6 functionality for improved stability and performance for users who utilize IPv6 networks. Additionally, the UI for USB sharing has been revamped, making it simpler to set up shared drives and devices over your local network.
Port Forwarding Improvements
The Port Forwarding function has been improved to provide a more user-friendly setup process. Whether you’re configuring ports for gaming, remote access, or specific services, these updates ensure a smoother experience.
Optimized UI for IPTV/VLAN Configuration
Finally, we’ve also improved the UI for IPTV and VLAN configurations, making it easier to set up and customize these settings based on your ISP requirements.
Client Identification Accuracy
Improved algorithms now provide more accurate identification of client devices, even when they are in offline mode. This allows network administrators to track and manage all connected devices more effectively, ensuring proper access control and better bandwidth allocation.
Enhanced Parental Controls
Parental controls have been significantly upgraded to allow for more granular control over network usage. Users can now set rules to block specific types of content, limit internet access during certain hours, and monitor device activity, providing a safer online environment for children and easier management for parents.
