Hi,

 

I have a Archer AX1500 router (Hardware Version:EX220-G2u v1 00000000) provided by my ISP. Seems the FW with this router customized as per the ISP.

This router physically has USB Port, but when I check web interface of this router there is no menu item to configure USB. Apart from this QoS also different kind of setting like Basic Settings, Queue Settings and Flow Classification, which is not easy, straight forward to me for allocating bandwidth to specific devices.

 

 

I want to try update current router FW with latest FW which is available at https://www.tp-link.com/in/support/download/archer-ax1500/v1/#Firmware. But I am not sure my router HW is compatible for this FW or not. I want to make sure my router won't brick, if I proceed FW update.   

 

Please let me know your suggestions and compatible FW for my router HW version.

The EX220-G2u is targeted for ISPs. These devices have a customized FW and they are not supported by TP-Link,

If you use the FW you mentioned, you'll probably receive an error message. Best not to try that but contact your ISP with these questions.

Will check and follow up with ISP. 

 

Earlier I was using Archer C5 V4 provided by ISP, this router's FW also customized for ISP.  Unlike normal C5 router specifications, this router doesn't support range extender mode and this ISP custom FW didn't allowed to upgrade the FW from router web interface.

 

I downloaded Archer C5 stock FW(s) from other tp-link country websites and programmed using TFTP method explained in OpenWRT and I could upgrade the FW that supports range extender.

 

I thought of exploring similar approach to upgrade the FW in Archer AX1500 also. But before proceeding for that, I want to make sure hardware point of view Archer AX1500 (EX220-G2u v1) is same as Archer AX 1500 V1 available in the market. Please let me know.

 

Will proceed for this only when I get the documented method to upgrade the FW.

Just realized that hardware point of view Archer AX1500 EX220-G2u not same as Archer AX1500 available in market. When look the pictures closely, later one do not have the USB port.
