Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I have a VR2800 in the basement as a router with WIFI, connected to an old Netgear WIFI extender on the ground floor.

I want to use some of the new WIFI standards (6E/7). Would buying a new model of DECO WIFI extender

and connecting it to VR2800 (disabling WIFI on VR2800) and placing another DECO module on the ground floor

to help improve coverage and the speed of the WIFI network throughout the house (2 storeys)?

Also, some wireless home appliances work only when connected to 2.4 GHz WIFI. Is it possible to

extend that frequency via DECOs, or do all networks present as EXT?

Many thanks

Hi, when you connect a Deco to the VR2800 via Ethernet cable and disable WiFi on the VR2800, the Deco is not an extender actually, you could either use Deco as wireless router mode or access point mode, the Deco network will have its own WiFi network name and password, you could customize it on your own.
