Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I have managed to set my virgin hub to modem. after many searches and videos watched, i know to remove all the ethernet cables & only use port 1 & to use the wan port on the Archer but after that i seem to be stuck. All the other comments i have found on this refer to different models and says to change the archer to wifi mode but this doesnt appear in the menu (as far as i can tell)

do i need the username and password details from virgin to be able to do this or am i just getting the sequence of plugging and unplugging wrong?

could someone please give me a list of simple steps to take after turning the virgin hub into modem only

thanks

  @terziyski thanks i had seen that.

I have not had a problem switching the hub to modem only, i have removed all wires

i do not have a problem setting the VR2800 to wireless router mode, i have connected the cable to the wan port on VR2800 & port 1 (top one) on Hub3, dhcp is set to enabled

it all seems to go fine but there is no wifi available

tried it in different order, rebooting, still nothing

so i must be missing a step

  @terziyski the lights on the VR2800 are all green except the internet light is orange/red showing there is no connection, when i test the connection it is saying there is no internet ie the diagram showing each step is showing as not connected at step 1

  @Aldgate

Upon successful configuration you should have the following screen: Internet icon with yellow checkmark (not a red cross):

Internet Status: Connected

Connection Type: Dynamic IP

IP address: <your public IP address>

If you have followed the instructions in the threads I posted you should be fine.

There's also a plenty of posts in the VirginMedia community about this type of configuration.

Let us know the outcome.

  @Aldgate

1. Change the VR2800 operation mode to wireless router:

2. Delete existing internet connections if any and Add new one of type Dynamic IP:

3. Click Save button when done configuring.

4. Connect ethernet cable between port 1 of the VM Hub3 to VR2800's LAN4/WAN port.

5. Restart VM Hub3 and then restart VR2800.
