RE450 does not pass DHCP request

I know that this is same name as the thread fro 2020, but i have same problem on different network setup, and i didn't understand the solution proposed.
My set up is following:
1. WAN router (Xiaomi) that have DHCP enabled
2. Local router (Asus RT-AC86U) that supply WIFI in two frequencies.
3. RE450 is extending wireless network on the second floor, connected with static IP that hardcoded assigned in the Xiaomi.
There is only one DHCP server enabled (on Xiaomi router).
Every device conneced wired or wireless to WIFI of Asus get IP from Xiaomi's DHCP.
I disabled DHCP on the RE450.
From some reason the RE450 does not do the same, it can't pass DHCP request to the server, so no device can be connected to the extended wireless network.

@terziyski Thank you for your help.
In the guide the repeater's DHCP just gets smaller range then the router, but the DHCP is enabled.
This is exactly what i'd like to avoid.
I don't really understand how it works with overlapped addresses. The first server that receives the request assigns IP ?
It probably could work, but i don't thing it is healthy situation. The better way is to let single DHCP do the work.
It looks for me like firmware bug, i would like to hear from tp-link regarding this problem.

The idea is actually to configure non-overlapping DHCP pool ranges on your main router and RE450.
Thus, it shouldn't matter if a device gets its IP address from the main router or the RE450.

Hello @alxs
You could try to assign static IP for the range extender by setting up IP reservation for the RE on the router instead.
Then leave range extender IP/ DHCP settings on Auto, Range extender uses smart DHCP and will goes off when it detects router's DHCP server
We're usually manually setting up static IP for range extender on RE's web page with DHCP server on, or simply turn off the RE DHCP.

@Solla-topee I have the same problem and this is NOT the way it should work. When DHCP is turned off, the RE450 should simply be forwarding DHCP requests/responses to/from the router DHCP. The problem with having the RE450 also act as DHCP is that it messes with static IP allocations and pihole logging. This is clearly a bug that needs to be fixed. Local support is of no help - I have emailed and received no responses.

I have the same problem. I cannot get the DHCP requests that arrive on the range extender to be forwarded to my DHCP server. I've tried turning off the range extender's DHCP, and I've tried setting it to AUTO. I have an internal DHCP server that needs to see the client MAC address in order to set up the network and firewalling rules.
I have a V4 hardware which isn't supported by OpenWRT, and unlikely ever to be given the specs.
Unless there's a solution, I'll be returning the hardware in the next few days.
