RE450 - PC connected via ethernet, but it will periodically disconnect with a DHCP error
Hi all,
As the title says, I am using an RE450 to connect my PC to my network as I find I get far more consistent speeds/latency when doing so as opposed to just connecting to my router via my wireless card. However, it has a very annoying issue where every 60-90 minutes it will disconnect my PC from the Internet. Sometimes it will reconnect after a couple of minutes, sometimes it will just refuse to connect whatsoever until I reset the extender and go through the setup wizard again.
I've checked the event viewer whenever this has happened, and it's always a DHCP-client event with the error "The IP address lease 192.168.1.200 for the Network Card with network address xxx has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.116 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)."
I've figured out that the extender has its own DHCP settings, and .116 is the IP being assigned to it from my router (BT Smart Hub 2). So I figured just disabling DHCP on the extender and letting the router handle all of that would fix it. But no, if I turn off DHCP on the extender I just stop getting any connection out of it whatsoever, and I can't even access it via tplinkrepeater.net anymore!
Does anyone know what is causing this and what the fix would be? It's becoming incredibly frustrating now.
