Dear Deco Support Team

I bought a Deco X20 (EU Ver: 2.0) Mesh Router set (1 main Deco and 2 satellite Decos) and have it successfully setup in Access Point mode so that I can connect my Apple Time Capsule to the network.

Setup is as follows: Internet -> Apple Time Capsule -> Deco -> Devices

In the Deco app, I have selected Access Point mode and configured the network without issues. Everything was working fine however suddenly one of the satellite Decos stopped working.

I followed the troubleshooting steps here: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/iVgDzoo16T4 and setup a new Deco network. Once I setup the new network, the satellite Deco worked again, however, only in Wireless Router mode. When I reverted back to Access Point mode, again, the satellite Deco stopped working. For reference, the other satellite Deco and main Deco was working fine in Access Point mode.

I have updated to the latest firmware, reset all of the Decos (with a pin) and recreated the network and this issue still persists. What is the solution here please as I need to use the Deco in Access Point mode. Any suggestions please?

Was it always the same satellite Deco X20?

---If possible, could you please switch the location of the two Deco X20s and check whether both of them could maintain online after switching the mode?

---By the way, if one Deco X20 would turn flashing red after switching to access point mode, would it be back online automatically if you switch the modem back to the router again?

When I swap the location of the satellite Decos, they work without any issues in "wireless router" operation mode.

When I change to "Access Point" operation mode, the same satellite, regardless of location, shows "offline". When changing to Access Point mode and the Deco app says "rebooting" both satellites do not show red, just green then off (I have set the LED to off)

Please advise, I need to use the Access Point operation mode as I route the internet via my Apple Time Capsule so that 1) I can backup my Macbook seamlessly via the network and 2) I have a Raspberry Pi which is plugged into the Apple Time Capsule via Ethernet and need to connect to it.

I used to see that Deco APP showed one satellite "offline" but actually the unit is solid green and working fine.

Could you please do me a favor and turn off the "LED control' on the Deco APP, then check the LED status on this unit?

As for your current network layout, is it like this:

ISP internet---Apple time Capsule---<Ethernet cable>---main Deco X20)))-Wi-Fi-(((( satellite X20-1)))-Wi-Fi--((( satellite X20-2

And is there any chance that you could connect this satellite X20 via Ethernet cable to the main Deco X20 and check whether it could maintain online that time after changing the mode?

By the way, I also got your email and after checking the above details, I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers and please also check for the update via email.

Yes please send to the senior engineers for further support

I turned LED control back on, all 3 units show green

Topology is like this:

Wall -> Ethernet cable-> ISP Router -> Ethernet cable -> Apple Time Capsule-> Ethernet Cable -> Raspberry Pi

Wall -> Ethernet cable-> ISP Router -> Ethernet cable -> Apple Time Capsule-> Ethernet Cable -> main Deco X20 -> ethernet cable -> Apple TV

Wall -> Ethernet cable-> ISP Router -> Ethernet cable -> Apple Time Capsule-> Ethernet Cable -> main Deco X20 -> wireless -> Deco Satellite 1 and Satellite 2 (nothing plugged into either Satellites)

Apple Time Capsule has the most updated firmware 7.8.1 and is in Network Router Mode: off, Wireless Network: off mode. Internet via DHCP

When I connect the satellite X20 via Ethernet cable to the main Deco X20 there is also a problem with in Access Point mode
