Solution Router internet keeps dropping
Hello,
I purchased the ax55 about 2 months ago. About a month ago it started having these weird drop outs constantly every few minutes and then will reconnect pretty much instantly after about 10-20 seconds. My logs are below. When it first started happening I called my ISP (Spectrum) and they said everything was stable on their end but they saw that the router had been asking constantly for a new ip. (not sure if relevant) So after that I realized that my firmware was out of date so I ran the auto update on the firmware. It still didn't change anything so I then researched the forums and saw many of the same issuess. Many issuess were sent to a page where there was a "beta" firmware that was supposed to adress the issue. I downloaded that one and still same issues. I then switched my ethernent cable from using the port 1 to port 3. This seemed to fix my issue for a while but now its back. The same thing was happening in the logs back then, that it is now. When this starts happening its EXTREMELY bad. It goes down every 2-4 minutes for 10-20 seconds. I have plugged my ethernet straight from the modem to the pc and it was stable. So it has to be the router...Any help!?

@Flipz
Got the AX55 2-3 weeks ago and it started disconnecting randomly.
Sometimes everything is good for 1-2 days and sometimes it goes crazy like now...
Every 2-4 minutes the webpage says that my WAN is unplugged, after 30 seconds i have internet again and the cycle repeats!
LED also changes from green to orange.
I tried everything, checked everything and now reading posts i see that new updates can reintroduce the same problem again....
I cut off both ends of my lan and replaced the heads, checked them with my tool and nothing.
Replacing the AX55 with the old switch fixes everything!
My knowledge about router/modem/switch is limited so pls enlighten me what could be the problem.
Attic-Router/Modem has a cable going down to the AX55
Router/Modem uses PPPOE in router mode
Ax55 is also in router mode
I tried turning off wlan, static routing, dhcp off, upn off and nothing changes.

@Kevin_Z
Found other people having the same problem and they returned it and bought from Asus, which i did too.
I tried the newest and 2 older versions with 0 difference.
I did the factory reset and after 1 minute it happened again.
I tried turning off router and modem and starting each one while waiting at least 10 minutes between turning on the other one and no change.
Router was also hotter than my phone while holding it for longer periods of time and watching videos, no clue if that is normal for having only a few devices.
Weird part is i never noticed the disconnects until my brother joined and said his multiplayer games kept on losing connection, my pc network icon or browser never showed any disconnects, only sometimes loading a page didnt start until 10-30 seconds have passed.
Trying to fix this caused me so much frustration after setting up everything and only hearing complaints, that i decided i wont be buying TP-Link products anymore.
I returned the router and 2 repeaters since the router was faulty and parental control to be really useful costs money.
I read that homeshield allows parental control and nothing about paying monthly/yearly to have true parental control.
Im not sure if i got a faulty device or this new model is just very problematic, like other people complain about on the internet.
Edit:
ISP didnt know what to do either.

AX55 started disconnecting randomly from the first day. Both, wireless and wired. After reboot works from 8 to 24 hours max. Then I have to reboot again. I returned it. Service center confirmed, that it has problems.
I had Archer c64 it's disconecting same way too, but about once per week...
I did not trust tplink anymore :/

I am having same issues. Purchased the router in June 2022 with no problems, but now in the last 3.5 weeks intermittent disconnects at the beginning with now almost hourly disconnects. I attempted to troubleshoot following previous thread link to no avail. The issues occurs both wireless and wired connections. Cleared cache on router, made sure firmware updated to latest version but no fixes. I contacted support through web chat this morning and they are forwarding my request to elevate issue. I am not in position to return this device since its been 5 months. I work from home and must have stable wired connection. The one thing I haven't heard from you is what is the cause of this issue? Telling us a new firmware is out, but isn't correcting problem isn't being transparent with what's causing the problem, or why this is happening. I cannot wait days more to be contacted about a fix. Please update the thread with useful information. Thanks
@cmezoom1175 Sorry to hear that you are still experiencing an issue with the latest official firmware.
I found your case was escalated to our support engineers already, however, you are not replying to them. Can you please confirm if you are willing to look into this issue further with our engineers directly? They will investigate this further and help provide a solution.
