The local SIM providers may aperiodically update the profile for users connecting to their network, or there are new SIM providers, which will require users to update or add the profile settings on the LTE Gateway routers and or MiFi devices to get online. This article aims to introduce the ISP Upgrade feature on the LTE Gateway routers regarding this concern.

What is ISP Upgrade used for?
LTE Gateway Routers and MiFi devices are usually plug-and-play after inserting SIM cards because we have built-in many APN profiles for common mobile carriers in the world. However, sometimes some new APN profiles might need to be added or previous existing APN profiles might need to be updated. We could release the updated ISP files, add or remove APN profiles to be compatible with mobile carriers and avoid creating APN profiles manually via the ISP Upgrade function.

You can find ISP Upgrade under Advanced >Network >ISP Upgrade page.

How to update the ISP file?
Method 1: Update the ISP file through the firmware upgrade.
For example, you can see the firmware release note for Archer MR600 showing “Updated ISP file version to 21052700”, which means the firmware update includes ISP file update as well, so if there is no separate ISP file available on the official website, using the latest firmware usually means the latest ISP file.
Note: This is the most common method to update the ISP file. Separate ISP files would be released only when some Subsidiaries request it due to important profiles needing to be added or updated for local carriers but firmware updates might need a longer time.

Method 2: Download the updated ISP file and upload it on the ISP Upgrade page.
For example, there might be an ISP file listed on the support page of our LTE Gateway or MiFi devices, if the ISP version is newer than the current version on your router, you can download and update it on the ISP Upgrade page.
Note: The same ISP file can be used on different models or hardware versions. And the ISP file version cannot be downgraded.

If you still find no default APN profile for the SIM carrier, or the default APN profile doesn’t work, you can also try creating a profile manually to dial up and connect to the internet.
