Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20200907 rel.76867(4555)

Hello Fans of Tp Link,

I used one old router Tp link Archer C20i and decided to change. From Monday (1.02.2021) I had a new baby Archer AX73. Configure all settings and turn on.

What I found is that most of my devices droped or connection dissapear even wired one. I tried to check the logs but I found only following:

2021-02-05 19:28:18 Led Controller INFO [1101] Start to run WAN1_ON

2020-09-07 00:00:37 NAT INFO [9160] Initialization succeeded

The firmware is the newest possbile on the device.

I switch off the OFDMA and TWT to tried without this. Only Smart connect is enable (this is one of the reason why I bought).

In comparison of Archer 20Ci, event 2,4Ghz radio is small which is little surprice for me.

From where I can start to fix the issue with connection?

Thank you in advance.

BR

@Clades

Turn them all off (including Smart Connect) and then switch them on one by one - observe which one may causing the issue.

Make sure your wilreless security looks like that:

If wired clients are affected as well, then the issue may not be strictly related to the wireless settings.

@Ivaylo you think that wpa3/wpa2 makes such interruptions ?

No, that was just a suggestion, a lot of people still leave TKIP as an encryption protocol. Mentioning that, what are your settings there ?

By 'connection dissapear' what do you mean - connection to the router or to the Internet ? How often does that happen ?

@Ivaylo my settings were combination WPA3/WPA2 with WPA3 version.

The connection between device and router just disappear. It doesn't matter if it is new device or old one.

@Clades

Describe your network setup / topology (ISP devices, your devices, how they are connected)

Observe your device LEDs during these disconnections :

How do they behave during the issue ?

Try the wireless security settings from my first post, reboot the device so all your devices can re-connect and test again. This way we can exclude the possibility of wireless settings issue.

@Clades

Can you please confirm the LED status again when the internet disappears on the AX73, except for the Internet LED, how about other LEDs, are they showing up correctly as per the status displayed on the User Guide posted here by Ivaylo?

Please also check if you can still get a valid IP address from the AX73 on the PC which is connected to the AX73 via cable, if there is an IP address, try to ping the AX73, show us the results:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/425/

Just to confirm, who is your ISP? Was the old C20i working fine? Is the WAN connection type Dynamic IP or PPPoE?

Re:Archer AX73 Connection issues with all devices

@Clades

Hi, I have a similar issue with my AX73. new, with last firmware

The router randomly reboots itself. and yes, reboot (flashing power led)

I have Qnap 231P - file server and DNLA media stream. On AX73 I have nat port forwarding for FTP.
My plan is - PS4 and TV wired connected and 2-3 mobile phones and laptops.

First, I think that is a heat issue (my router is over PS4).  But when QNAP has not connected router works fine.

In log files, I can't find a problem they are clear after reboot. Is there a not compatible NAS devices list?
My previous Xiaomi router works fine last 3 years.

I try to stop all ALG, SPI Firewall with no result.

Any ideas or advice?

Best,
Tihomir

@Tihomir

If you think that the problem is overheating, try to place the router in a well ventilated place and test if that could be excluded.

Judging by the AX73 specs the devices, that you are planning to connect, should'n be any challenge for the device performance.

There shouldn't be any specific compatibility list for using NAS devices.
