Replaced a buggy netgear for this TP Link after all the rave reviews on the Interwebs.  Took it out of the box, updated the firmware, configured everything and viola, 400Mbit wired across the board (which is what I pay for) and......20Mbit/sec wifi.....2.4 and 5GHz.  Even the netgear at least provided the correct throughput even though I had to run 2 year old firmware to make it happen.  

 

am I missing something?  I see that this device does not allow QoS to be disabled.  I've set it to standard and tried playing around with different settings but it's all the same.

Make sure your wireless settings look like this:

 

 

Do the same for 2.4GHz band (except MIMO will be missing there).

As for the QoS disabling you should uncheck the box in the screenshot bellow:

wifi settings were setup that way.  as for QoS I don't have that option.  I've got application priority and device priority.  I have application set to standard and all device priority is off

well it appears that the ookla speed test site and app may be effected by QoS?  Other speed tests are showing the correct bandwidth and I pulled an .iso from the Internet and it was downloaded at the excepted rate.

Possibly, the difference in QoS settings is due to the FW version probably, but with your current settings you should be fine.
