Model: TL-MR6400
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: v5

Hi,

I was unable to find a setting to manually force the use of a specific 4G band in my modem.

For example, sometimes the router uses the band 8 instead of 1/3/40 which are much more faster than the 8 one, resulting in a drastic reduce in network speed.  Band 3 in my country Indonesia can produce 30 Mbps meanwhile the band 8 only reaches 4 Mbps. It makes me and my friends very frustated with this situation.

I know for sure that with router of other brand like H is possible to set this option. Is it possible to enable it with next firmware update?
We are in indonesia very need this feature, I hope TP-Link can release this feature in a few weeks forward. Don't take much time. Please push forward this issue to the software department ASAP.

Thanks

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

We do have the plan to release the firmware which supports manual band selection.

But the estimated date is still not clear.

@Kevin_Z

Hello

I just purchased MR6400 to replace the small huawei modem provided by my network operator.

Firware is up to date (1.1.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 200511 Rel.43036n)

It’s all good until the speed drops dramatically, and after digging a little bit I see there is the same problem for almost all your modem... it constantly switch to the worst band (20) and there is no way to force it to the fastest bands (1/3/5).

Do we really have to beg on this forum for month until you finally realize how big this problem is?

How hard is it for you to implement that while you have done the exact same thing with other modems like the MR600?

I can’t believe what’s going on. It’s really a shame.

Please provide a firmware with the option to select band asap, without it the product is 99% useless.

Maybe as an in-between, you could make a firmware which simply doesn’t use the band 20?

Sincerely
Josh

@josh564

Hello, thanks for your kind feedback, we are sorry this takes long.

Update (2020-12-08):

Our developer has provided a new beta firmware which allows you to manually select the band on the MR6400 v5, please check and confirm:
MR6400(EU) V5: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202012/20201208/TL-MR6400(EU)v5_1.1.0_0.9.1_[201113-rel63736]_up_boot_all_2020-12-08_09.38.45.zip

How to upgrade the firmware? Please check this guide:

I hope this helps, good day.
