Model: Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 190412 Rel.66770n

Hi,

I was unable to find a setting to manually force the use of a specific 4G band.

For example, sometimes the router uses the band 20 instead of 1/3/7 which are much more faster than the 20 one, resulting in a drastic reduce in network speed.

I know for sure that with router of other brand is possible to set this option. Is it possible to enable it with a (beta) firmware update?

Thanks.

Hi @StefanM and all

Like I mentioned on this thread, we would push forward them to do something and pay more attention on this feature.

For more details, you can see my answer there. https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/193174

@Satheskumar

Update:

There has already been a beta firmware that could manually choose the network band.

https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202007/20200714/LTE_GATEWAYv3_1.11.0_0.9.1_up_boot(200325)_2020-06-12_15.48.55.zip

If your sim card carrier supported 2CA, you could go to basic>internet to fix two CA bands.

Thank you!

@MaxVec

Thanks for your requesting. We do receive some similar feedback and have reminded related department.

They work on it now and evaluate the feasibility to add it in the next firmware.

May I know how do you know which band is better/faster? Is there any test you have done?

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

@Kevin_Z

Many thanks for your reply.

I really appriciate if there will be a firmware upgrade to enable that function.

Yes, i did a little bit of testing. Band aggregation with the 20 one (and 3 for example) shows a speed at about 25/30 Mb/s.

Instead, with 7 and 3 download speed increases up to 130 Mb/s.

In italy, the band 20 is the slowest one:

Frequency Technology Frequency numbering
800 MHz FDD Band 20
900 MHz FDD Band 8
1500 MHz SDL Band 32
1800 MHz FDD Band 3
2100 MHz FDD Band 1
2600 MHz FDD Band 7
2600 MHz TDD Band 38 (test)

@MaxVec

I just posted a similar thread, in my opinion the ability to select which band you'd like to use is an essential option.

It means the difference between 30mb download on band 3 or closer to 200mb on band 7.

Hoping that TP Link add this into firmware soon else I will have to return the router and purchase a Huawei which allows this feature.

@MaxVec

Really need this feature. I'm also seeing slow speed issue due to slow speed band is selected. for me signal varies alot 25% to 100% on router but i don't see this variation on same network.

@pMR600 @imtootall

Sorry to tell you that there is no update yet.

For the speed issue, you can create the network connection profile manually and adjust some wireless settings to optimize its performance.

Besides, please ensure that the firmware is up to date.

And we will push forward our product engineer with the feedback received.

Good day.

Dont see how custom ISP setting would solve the LTE band lock. Please put prio on this (FW with 4G band function). Even portable MIFI:s have it...
