Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.5.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 200710 Beta.50656n

Hello guy, so

After failing to get a solution for my newly bought Archer VR2800 disconnecting from ISP on a regular basis, I have decided to use the same as a Wifi Router instead of DSL modem router & brought back my Linksys X1000 and using it as a modem. Now, VR2800 will not connect to internet (forgive me ignorance, my other wifi router Buffallo just did that!) so that I can connect to TP-link cloud for DDNS and other router specific activities.

Under the LAN settings, I cannot see a gateway or dns settings specific for the VR2800 until. How I will make the VR2800 to connect to internet?

Regards,

@rajthampi

Good day.

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Who is your internet service provider and what kind of internet connection type does it require?

Did you set the Linksys X1000 as a pure modem or modem router?

---if it is pure modem, the internet connection type on VR2800 would use the connection type from the internet provider, such as PPPoE connection;

---it it is the modem router, the connection type is just dynamic IP;

Thanks a lot.

@Sunshine Hello, Thank you very much for the reply. Well Linksys x1000 is another DSL modem router & I am using it only as a modem (no specific modes for using the router as Modem only is available) by disabling the wifi on it.

My ISP doesn't support PPPoE. We are using PPPoA instead. My ISP is KEMS Zajil, Kuwait.

Please let me know whether additional details will help this situation.

regards,

@Sunshine on another note, your AE support site has a BETA version of firmware uploaded as latest firmware. Is it possible for you to update the same with release candidate? Thank you!

@Sunshine

I'm still trying to digest these suggestions!

---if it is pure modem, the internet connection type on VR2800 would use the connection type from the internet provider, such as PPPoE connection;

We use PPPoA here in Kuwait & My Linksys Router x1000 is already connected to ISP

---it it is the modem router, the connection type is just dynamic IP;

Okay, so I take a LAN out from Linksys x1000 and connect it to VR2800's LAN4/WAN port and select internet connection as dynamic IP?? Please clarify!

@rajthampi

Good day,

Sorry for the delay.

Yes, you are right and Archer VR2800 should be in wireless router mode with dynamic IP internet connection type.

and as for the firmware, as long as you are on the same region code, such as EU, UN, you could try to update the beta firmware.

Really sorry for the inconvenience.

Waiting for your reply.

@Sunshine The sole ray over the community horizon, salute! Well buddy, I am using a ADSL modem router for the connection and using your device as a wifi router that wouldn't connect to internet so that I can connect to DDNS or other internet based services.

Now, your suggestion only works if I am using a pure MODEL for establishing the ADSL connection.

Any other suggestions?

@rajthampi

Hello, sorry to respond late.

Please refer to the below instructions to switch the VR2800 into a wireless router:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1731/

But firstly, please ensure you have internet access when connect a PC directly to the Linksys X1000. You may show me what is the IP address you can get when the PC is directly connected to the Linksys X1000.

@Kevin_Z Hello there

Well, Linksys x1000 is another DSL Modem router that connects to ISP. The instructions available with the reference document you pointed is irrelevant to me as my ISP uses PPPoA for the link.

My x1000 DSL modem router has 192.168.1.1 and I have the LAN IP address for VR28000 setup as 192.168.1.1 and connected to one of the LAN ports available with x1000 & VR2800 is currently set as the DHCP server.

Well, it does forward the requests to 192.168.1.1, the gateway and all my connected clients can connect to the internet, but VR2800

I need a solution for it.

Thank you for you reply.
