Model: Archer VR600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 0.2.0 0.9.1 v0074.0 Build 170504 Rel.68210n

I just got a new VR600.

When connected with cable it disconnects every few minutes for a few seconds. This doesn't happen with my old modem/router.

I replaced the cable. I tried without VPN. I restarted everything. The problem persists.

The wifi works without blemish.

Please advise.

@asherm

Hi, for your issue, we would like to confirm the below information first.

The wired connection from the Router has dropping internet issue, but the wireless connections from the router works well, right?

May I know how the wired connection is recovered? Automatically OR restarting the router?

May I know which line is connected to the router? It is DSL line OR Ethernet cable? Do you have the NBN box in your home?

May I know the lights' status on the router?

When the issue happens, can you change another wired device to check if the same issue happens ?

May I know the type of the cable? CAT5e or CAT6? It is suggested to use CAT6 to test.

When the dropping issue happens again on your PC, please follow the instruction to check the IP address, default gateway on the PC.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/

BTW, may I know who is your internet service provider?

Can you check the version on the white label printed on the router? It is EU version or AU version?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Have a nice day!

@Sunshine Thanks! Answers in red. Waiting for further guidance.

The wired connection from the Router has dropping internet issue, but the wireless connections from the router works well, right? correct.

May I know how the wired connection is recovered? Automatically OR restarting the router? Automatically.

May I know which line is connected to the router? It is DSL line OR Ethernet cable? Do you have the NBN box in your home? To the modem/router DSL. From the modem/router Ethernet. I do not have an NBN box as far as I can tell.

May I know the lights' status on the router? When it works: LAN, internet, wireless 2.4, dsl and power lights are on. When it doesn't: the same just without the LAN, the LAN goes off for a few seconds.

When the issue happens, can you change another wired device to check if the same issue happens ? I can not and I don't think this is the issue since it worked with another modem.

May I know the type of the cable? CAT5e or CAT6? It is suggested to use CAT6 to test. I have no idea. What ever came in the modem the box. I tried also another cable.

When the dropping issue happens again on your PC, please follow the instruction to check the IP address, default gateway on the PC.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/ Seems to be the same at both instances. When it drops and when it doesn't.

BTW, may I know who is your internet service provider? Orange parther in Israel

Can you check the version on the white label printed on the router? It is EU version or AU version? EU

@asherm

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers;

And could you please help me confirm the following details since the post is quite a long time:

When the wired PC lost the connection, did the Lan light still turn off for a few seconds?

Could you please help me get the detailed information about this computer:

  1. Press WIN+R on the keyboard, type in “cmd” and enter, you will see a small black window.
  2. In the small black window, type in “ipconfig /all” and press enter, the information of your network adapters will be printed.
  3. Please copy the whole content of this window while contacting us, this information would be more helpful when troubleshooting this issue.

By the way, Did you have one more Ethernet device for a test?

Thanks.

Not sure. I think it does. The disconnet happends every few minutes so it is hard to notice.

Could you please help me get the detailed information about this computer:

  1. Press WIN+R on the keyboard, type in “cmd” and enter, you will see a small black window.
  2. In the small black window, type in “ipconfig /all” and press enter, the information of your network adapters will be printed.

I run on linux so I ran ifconfig -a. The results are below.

By the way, Did you have one more Ethernet device for a test?

Yes. I replaced it with an old tplink device (maybe 225) and it works flawlessly so this is not the cable or connection.

Thanks.

@asherm

Hi, for the old TP-Link device(maybe 225), I guess you talked about replacing the VR600 with this router?

How about another wired laptop, windows, or Mac to test whether it would drop the connection as well?

Thank you.
