Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TL-MR3040

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 120328

ISP : T-Mobile UK

The issue I'm having is if 3G is lost and only a 2G signal is available and the point where the modem switches the MR3040 is no longer able to connect to the internet with the modem.

If I force the E160 to 2G only, the MR3040 identifies the modem, tries to connect, fails and cycles.

From this I think the issue is the MR3040 could be using a 3G only command in it's chat script.

Is anyone else using a similar setup and has this working or is having the same issue as I am?

I have also tried 120822 version of firm but have the same results.

There is no BIN file for my modem.

The USB modem works fine in a PC and will happily switch from 3G to 2G and back again.

Maybe they are not completely compatible... Have you checked their compatibility list ?

The E160 is on the list of compatible devices. I've contacted someone I know locally who has another T-Mobile USB modem. I'm not sure what model there's is but I know it isn't the same as mine, I intend to check the model and compare the compatible list and give there's a try.

In some ways I might have been better buying a E586 MIFI router. At least that way the radio is built into the device and I wouldn't have these compatibility issues.
