Model: Archer MR200
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.9.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 190307 Rel.54196n

Hi,

I have this 4G/3G router, Wi-Fi extender and use the default settings.

AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router Archer MR200

https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/3g-4g-router/archer-mr200/

AC1200 Mesh Wi-Fi Range Extender RE300

https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/range-extender/re300/

The problem:

The Archer MR200 does not reconnect to the Internet when mobile provider reset their network after 24 hours.

What exactly means that the mobile provider resets its cellular network after about 24 hours?

That means nothing else in my case, that after 24 hours (sooner or later), my data plans will be automatically charged again. I use a SIM card with DayFlat option.

Usually it happens around midnight and I don't see these symbols on the router anymore: Internet and Signal Strength.

At this moment only Power and Wi-Fi symbol is lit. I always have to restart the router then. Every day I have to do it once or twice.

Please add a smart function where users can activate it manually.

This smart function should detect when the router only lights up the Wi-Fi and Power icon. Although a few seconds ago the other two symbols were lit (Internet and Signal Strength)

Let the function automatically disconnect and reconnect the Internet without restarting. Similar to a smartphone.

Please reply.

What happens when I insert the same SIM card into my Android phone and what happens around midnight?

I use a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with Android 9 and Android Wi-Fi tethering.

When around midnight or a bit later I see the 4G connection is down for 1 to 5 seconds due to automatic debiting of the dataplan from the SIM card. I don't see the 4G symbol anymore.

But Android device or Android system is intelligent and after 1 to 5 seconds later the connection was back. I guess it tried to connect again.

The advantage is also that the Android Wi-Fi tethering function was not turned off, the device itself does not have to reboot and after about 1 to 5 seconds later all devices connected to my Samsung Galaxy S9+ had an Internet connection again.

I only use the default setting of the Android device.

TP-Link can you please add such a function for the users?

Or do you have a better idea how I can solve the problem? It is really annoying to restart the router every day.

@Routeruaw

I've got a similar issue going on, when tracking back on when my router lost 4G connection, it shows that this happens after the carrier resets the daily limit. In the logs the router does throw some errors:

The best workaround, for now, was to set an auto-reboot at night..

@Rikkert

I may have found a temporary solution.

I forgot one detail, I only use default settings. But when selecting the network I chose "4G Only" and just like you. When the carrier resets the dataplan. Usually around midnight or later. In my case (24h clock), 00:30 to 2:00. That's when the problem happens.

I have used "4G Preferred" for a few days and until today the problem has not happened again.

What is your setting for "Network Mode"?

I personally will test again in the next few days "4G Only", whether the problem here again appearance. The router itself has been on for 3 days 24h with "4G Preferred".

I will restart the router in the next test to be sure. And test again "4G Only".

@Routeruaw Thanks for sharing, my setting for Network Mode is set to 4G only, when I change this setting, internet connection is lost immediately.

The problem of losing internet connection seems to occur once every week or so. I'm thinking of writing a script that will reboot the router when internet connection is lost.

@Rikkert
Here the message from TP-Link. maybe tp-link can fix your problem if they get more debug logs. have you already contacted the support?

support.uk@tp-link.com

Message in my case*, what I have to do. I think your message will be very similar ask the support and link this thread. You are not alone ;)

*Message:
Secondly, as for the issue you have reported-Archer MR200 does not reconnect to the Internet when mobile provider reset their cellular network, please help to get the debug log for further analysis. Here are the steps for you to get the debug logs:
1. Please download the debug firmware and tool from the link below on a Windows computer.
https://static.tp-link.com/2019/201912/20191227/2019-12-25-LTE_Gateway_debugFW_and_Tool-new.zip
2. Connect your Windows computer to the router by Ethernet cable, upgrade the debug firmware on your router locally. Here are the instructions for your reference to upgrade it. Please check part 2.
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1667/
3. With the Windows computer connecting to the router by Ethernet cable, run the TP-Link LTE Log Tool.exe in manual mode from 23:55 to 00:05. Save the debug log into another folder. and go to the web management page, save the System Log on Advanced-System Tools-System Log page.
4. If you still have no internet access on the router after you run the tool in manual mode for 10 minutes. Please run the tool again in dial once mode, and save the debug log and system log into another folder.

@Routeruaw

Hello, thanks for your valued reply; sorry to hear that you cannot collect the debug logs to do further analysis, but that is okay, we have followed up some cases already and will do more troubleshooting; You can install the beta firmware as a workaround for now and you can take more time to test its performance.

And thanks for sharing the guidance provided by our engineer.

@Rikkert You can follow the instruction mentioned above and provide the debug log and send it to the support email. support@tp-link.com with the link of this thread attached.

Thanks a lot. Have a nice day.

Honestly, I had the same problem with my my last provider. Think that you should to change your internet provider. It is not difficult. I am student in university and work at night in internet. I need to have good 4G internet. So than I had recognized the problem, my provider couldn't help me.
And I was finding new one, when my brother said me that he use a really helpful website where you can find your own ideal provider for home or mobile phone. And it is real, top providers from UK are usave.co.uk partners. I didn't have to much money, but they have an opportunity to get credit and return you cashback. Also I have found here new telephone and headphones. And Dude, try to write in custom support. Hope that everything will be okay.
