@skyfree same issue here..
TL-MR6400
No SIM card detected. Please make sure that your SIM card is slid properly in the card slot.
The sim is in the slot and used to work last week.
Then its started only working after multiple restarts.
Now it wont work even after 10 restarts...
edit: I finally got it to work by using my nail to push downwards on the sim during the restart ...
Whomever designed this crap should be fired INSTANTLY
edit2: also make sure that if you have a size adapter on your sim (the little plastic around it) that its either completly flat or that the sim side is pertruding above the rest..

May I know who is the sim card carrier and what is the network type of this sim card?
Did it work properly before? When this error message pops up, how do you make it back to work?
Have you ever tried to hard reset the router by holding the reset button/hole for 10s with the router powered on?
And when this issue happened, please login to the web UI and show us a screenshot of the advanced-status page.
Besides, when did you buy this router?
Best regards.

Thanks for your explanation;
Considering the TL-MR6400 cannot detect the sim card since you bought it last week, to solve your problem quickly, it is suggested to contact the retailer or the local tech support to get a replacement first.
https://www.tp-link.com/support/contact-technical-support/#E-mail-Support
After that, you can take some time to verify whether the router works properly.
Any further problem, please let us know.
Best regards.
