Connecting Deco's
Hi,
i want to install a mesh network using the one of the deco models but I want to connect 3 via Ethernet cable and one wirelessly.
The ethernet cables all start from my basement and are connected to my IPS supplied modem router they then go to different rooms in the house. My question do i simply plug each on of the 3 deco units into the Ethernet (RJ450 socket) and set them up as AP, if not what do I need to do, i really do not want a unit in the basement as it would a waste.
Thanks

Yes, you can have Deco units connected to ISP modem/router with Deco mesh in AP mode.
I would suggest the following process to setup Deco mesh:
1. Attach first Deco unit to ISP Router and power Deco on. It will become your Main Deco. Follow Quick Start guide to configure it.
2. Place all other Deco units near by, do not Ethernet wire them, power them on one by one. With some Deco models new units will join Deco mesh automatically, others have to be added manually using Deco app.
3. When you have all Deco set online and shown in Deco app, configure Deco mesh to run in AP mode.
4. Now you can power off all Deco units and bring them to their permanent locations. Power them on starting with Main Deco.

You should be able to connect Deco units directly to ISP router. Most ISP routers support Deco Ethernet backhaul.
In a very rare chance yours does not, you may need to get TP-Link gigabit unmanaged switch to make it work.
Try it first without the switch.
