Model: VX800v
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: newest on both

Hello,

I am trying to connect my old Archer Vr600v to an Vx800v via LAN cable as a WLAN-Router however, LAN works but I never get WLAN working on the Archer Vr600v. Since many devices are connected to the VR600v I would like to keep it as a WLAN-router connected to the Vx800v.

Any advice?

Thank you.

PS: I followed the TP-link instructions vor the Vr600v V2 - but they don't work with the V1 unfortunately.

There's no need to have two routers in this case since that will cause a double NAT in your network.

You can use your VR600v in AP mode instead and keep its devices connected by using the same SSIDs as before.

Thank you very much - it works (however, the VR600v must be also set to WLAN-router mode).

This setup should work even if the VR600v is in DSL modem router mode. Glad to hear you've managed to setup it up.

In fact, you gain one LAN port more since in wireless router mode LAN4 works as WAN, but this setup doesn't use the DSL/WAN port.
