Model: Deco XE75
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.14 Build 20241015 rel 45922

This system is installed in a 3 level home with the router on the top floor and the other 2 are installed on each level below. The basement being the furthest distance has always had the worst performance. However, can someone here or from DECO support please explain to me why my network performance in the basement IMPROVED noticebly after the basement node was removed leaving only 2 devices to service the entire home? I did speed tests all over the basement area and verified that they are all at least 20% faster than before.

There have been no other modifications to the settings or placement and this discovery was quite by accident because it makes no sense to me that the removal of a node would actually make the system better?!

Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Are the two satellite Deco units connected to the main Deco by WiFi Backhaul?

If yes, due to the working pattern and protocol/regulation of Wi-Fi technology, the more wireless hops, the slower the speed would be.

When satellite 2 is removed, client 2 will have to connect to satellite 1 whose internet speed actually is better than satellite 2.

For more details, please refer to Why is my satellite Deco unit not getting the same speed as the main Deco?

Wait for your reply and best regards.
