Model: Archer C8
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 4.0.0 Build 20160517 Rel. 44603

Hi

I Have an Archer C8 where I've enabled PPPoE to connect directly to 1/1 Gbit Fiber media-converter.

When router is configured to connect to internet via Dynamic IP config , the PC to PC speed is 1000 Mbit with transfers around 100 MB/s

However, when PPPoE is enabled, the speed is only 350-400 Mbit (35 MB/s)

I've had to enable IPTV for VLAN 101 configuration as stated by the ISP :

PPPoE settings consist of username + password + MTU size of 1492

I've tried enabling / disabling IGMP which didnt change anything.

any advice ?

some more info:

PC1 is connected to 1000mbit switch which is then connected to the router.

PC1 can download from internet with 1000 Mbit speed

PC2 is connected directly to router and can download from internet with 1000mbit too

But filetransfer from PC1 to PC2 only happens with 35MB/s

I also have a NAS connected to the switch, and the transfer from PC2 to NAS is also 35MB/s

transfer from PC1 to NAS is 100MB/s

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

If the network topology never changes, and only the internet connection type changes from Dynamic IP to PPPoE, maybe that is related to the VLAN ID settings and the switch.

Your PC1 and NAS are all connected to the same switch, so the transfer speed is not influenced.

If you remove the switch and also connect PC2 to the router directly, how about the transfer speed?

  @Marvin_S

Well, every device that is connected to the Router only get 35MB/s throughput between nodes.

They all get 1000Mbit Internet though.

My solution so far has been to add another 1000Mbit switch

PC1 -> Switch 1

NAS -> Switch 1

Switch 1 -> Switch 2

Router -> Switch 2

PC2 -> Switch 2

Now im able to transfer 1000Mbit between all PC's and NAS and all devices have 1000 Mbit Internet too.

But the Switch function of the Archer C8 is basically worthless.
