Model: RE450
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.5 Build 20200914 Rel. 34203

In both the web interface and the Tether app, the IP addresses for the connected clients is missing the final digit of the 4th segment in the sequence.  For example, a client IP that should be "192.168.111.105" shows as "192.168.111.10", and a client IP that should be "192.168.111.104" also shows as "192.168.111.10".  Now, as you can imagine, this can be quite confusing when viewing the list and seeing duplicate IP addresses, especially when they are outside the range configured in the DHCP settings in the router.

And, just to be clear, this is happening in both the web interface for the extender and the Tether app, so I'm guessing it's something that will need to be addressed in the firmware.  Here's my DHCP settings on the router:

IP Address Pool: 192.168.111.100 - 192.168.111.249

Address Lease Time: 1440

Default Gateway: 192.168.111.1

Primary DNS: 1.1.1.1

Secondary DNS: 8.8.8.8

Please let me know if / when this will be addressed in a firmware update.  Thanks!

Update - The issue was identified and I was provided a new beta firmware version to verify that it fixes the problem.  At this point, I'm just waiting for the official version of that firmware to be released.

@Glen.Appleton

Good day,

Thank you very much for your kind feedback.

For your case, we would like to follow up on your case by email and please have a check of your email box later.

At the same time, please help me check the following information:

1. What is the model number of your home router?

2. Have you checked what would happen if the IP is 192.168.111.115/114, or it just happened when the IP is like 192.168.111.10x?

3. If possible, can I have some pictures both on the Tether app and web interface?

Thanks a lot and wait for your reply.

@TP-Link

Router info:

  • Model: TP-Link Archer A7 (AC1750)
  • Hardware version: v5.0
  • Firmware: 1.0.16 Build 20201029 rel.43238(5553)

As for different ranges in the final segment, the screen shots I'm providing will show that it's occurring for 192.168.111.10*, 192.168.111.11*, and 192.168.111.21*.  Match the MAC addresses in the screen shot from the extender access control screen to the same MAC addresses from the router DHCP server screen from the screen shots I've attached and you will see it as I do.  I'm also attaching a screen shot of the Tether app screen with the extender clients, but my guess is that it's not an issue with the mobile app since it is actually reporting what the web UI is reporting from the access info.

@TP-Link - Thank you!

I've received the email from the engineer and I'm working with him to try to duplicate the issue on his setup.  No luck so far, but I'm hopeful.
