TL-MR6400 disconnected many times per day
Hi everybody,
My Internet left many times per day on my TL-MR6400 v4, just bought....
When the problem happened, all lights of the modem are on.
I saw many users have same problem with different models of 4G modem. I saw answers given by tp-link staff.
So I create a manual apn profile, set manual dns servers on dhcp menu (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), check 4G connection with my phone but the problem is persistent.
Nothing appears in the system log, all steps indicate "pass" in diagnostic menu...
So I need to reboot the modem and it works again. So please help

@JimDaniels, @Kevin_Z,
Jim, do you have Hardware v3 or v4?
Because I've got v4 and I'm getting an error when starting the TP Link Logging Tool.
I checked the pctool.log file and I see these errors:
[2020-03-06 20:29:09,451][INFO] [1]Upload and parse config file...
[2020-03-06 20:29:09,882][INFO] Failed to upload config file.
So after checking the config folder, I only see an MR6400v3 folder. Perhaps thats the problem, because I have a v4.
I also sent this info to support.
Any ideas?

Firmware Version:1.11.0 0.9.1 v0001.0
Build 200106 Rel.64364n
Hardware Version:TL-MR6400 v4 00000001
The tool is running in the background and all is working fine. Appart from 1 DC at arround 14:00 i have a stable connection.
I will post a complete writeup on sundey after some tests with uploads and bigger downloads. Also im leaving my comp open 24/7 just to catch DC's.

Ah, great. I have the exact same hardware and firmware here. Exactly the same versions. Still I cannot run the logging tool.
Let's see what support has to tell me.
Good luck! I hope the issue will be solved quickly for all of us having this problem.

Have you Trier to turn it off and on again?
Sorry for bad joke but couldn't resist 😁
Hopefully all gets fixed. But just to be clear, you have installed the new firmware rights? Do you see any changes? Is it running better?

Haha, yes, I installed the testing firmware this morning:
Firmware Version:1.11.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 200106 Rel.64364n.
Up until now no disconnects or other problems. So it may look that it's better.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
So I let it run this weekend and see how it goes.

Hi @Kevin_Z, I'm having the same problem here. Can I have the beta firmware too please?

This is actually to everybody, that requests the firmware.
Please always share all possible data you have. Offten there is no 1 solution fits all scenario.
Give the technicians as much info as possible:
1. Please give a brief introduction of the current issue; what kind of troubleshooting you have done and what about the corresponding results.
2. What is the model number of your device?
3. And its hardware and firmware version? Note: Please ensure that it is the latest one.
4. Please check the country version of your router as well. It is printed on the bottom label of the actual device, next to the model number.
5. Besides, show the screenshots of the Basic-network map page, Advanced-status page, and Advanced-network-internet page when the MR6400 stops working.
@Kevin_Z - maybe you could provide a download link for the Logtool so that everyone, that wants a solution or a fix can provide you with the necessary details ?

I just had my first disconnect with the new beta test firmware :-(
In the Network Map tab it says: No Service.
I checked with my phone, which has also 4G with the same provider, and the service was normally available.
See screenshot 1:
Then I went to Advanced -> Network -> Internet
I changed the Network Mode from 4G Only to 3G Only and clicked save.
Immediately aftwards I changed the setting back to 4G Only and clicked save.
Within a second it said the service was back and connected.
See screenshot 2:
Unfortunately I cannot run the TP-Link LTE Log Tool, because it raises an error when connecting to the router.
See screenshot 3:
So after all, the new firmware does NOT solve the issue.
For whatever reason, the router disconnects and does NOT re-connect.
During the whole time, the 4G signal was available. And even if it dropped for a second, the router should reconnect automatically.
So my request to support is to send me a new TP-Link LTE Log Tool that actually works, so that we can investigate further what is going on here.

Since yesterday everything runs great for me. But the error is odd. Does the program itself launch? If yes them what password are you type in? From your network or the password from the router?

Yes, the program itself launches. And I can enter the password. Of course this is the router password :-)
And the tool connects to the router and IS authenticated correctly.
The logging below is taken from the Log tool directory \log\pctool.log
See yellow line below that it connected successfully.
Then the red lines...
The tool wants to send a config file to the router. This fails.
So either the file does not exist, or it cannot send it.
All local firewall settings are disabled. So no firewal rules between my PC and the router.

I have only 4 subdirectories in the TPLink\config\ directory:
- MR200v4_Spain
- MR400v4
- MR600v1
- MR6400v3
Question: Do you have other directories in your TPLink\config\ folder than I have?
Maybe they sent me a different TPLink log tool version.
